it fell apart.
love stayed.
the red reflectors lit the city lanes at night, traffic lights fare well for our heartlines, and lest haste taints the metro stations; we can dance on the way to our destination, and what's the point of being alive if not for getting lost in the same streets i tried so hard to find?
burnt ombre skies asking is there any space on your mind for me?, but what am i to say, when i still carry the yellow leaves of last autumn in my memories? it's the little things, my mama often said as she tucked me in bed, the stone-built houses of old delhi that i saw just once were suddenly so hard to forget.
the road signs i never paid attention to, or the skyline i could memorize by one look, the turn of the footpath from my neighborhood to yours, or the outline of a faraway mountain etched on your hand like a scar;
they said love was for two people who vowed to each other, a promise of eternity, but i found love in the rain splattering on my pavement, in the winds from a shallow creek, i found love in all the places they said it wouldn't be.
in all the places, i find and leave a piece of myself, like all other people. and the earth to me, is drunken in the remnants of you & i.
and there will come a time when we'll be found once again in the hint of dim morning light.
