Micah rubbed his eye, as he sat in his car in the school car park. He didn't want to get out. He didn't want to deal with the pitying looks he knew he was going to receive.

In his rear-view mirror, he could see Edward's familiar silver Volvo and shrunk down in his seat. Micah knew that they where going to try and talk to him, but he wasn't sure he was ready.

Especially when he knew exactly what they where going to say.

Micah watched as the bell rung and a sea of students made their way into the building, ignoring the Cullens gaze.

Once he was sure he was alone, Micah climbed out of his car and locked it behind himself. Straightening his coat, Micah shouldered his bag and walked into the building, heading straight for his music class.

Micah kept his head down as he walked into the room. Edward looked up as the intoxicating smell of his Mate hit his nose.

His bright eyes dimmed slightly when he noticed Micah's refusal to even look in his general direction.

Getting up from his seat, Edward walked over to where Micah was sitting, and cleared his throat softly.

When Micah had walked into the room, he had felt Edward's eyes watching him, but he spared him no glance.

Walking to the back of the room, Micah made sure to put as much space between him and Edward, as possible.

It was his own way of saying 'Leave me alone, I want space,' but of course, Edward didn't see it that way and still walked over.

Micah clenched his eyes shut when Edward cleared his throat, and with much reluctance, he looked up and locked eyes with the golden honeycomb eyes of Edward's.

Micah tried to keep his face as neutral as possible, but just looking at Edward's smiling face made him want to scream out.

Why was Edward smiling, Micah wondered, did he find this amusing?

"Can we talk?" Edward asked in a soft tone, hoping to get anything other than a blank stare.

Micah shook his head, "No. class is about to start." He lied. Class wasn't about to start, because the teacher now says was usually twenty minutes late.

Edward's smile dropped at the clear dismissal, and was replaced with a small frown, "Micah, please," he begged softly.

"I said no." Micah turned to the piece of paper on his desk and started sketching something, what it was he didn't know, but it would stop him from looking at the vampire standing in front of him.

Edward nodded his head in silence, and slowly slunk back to his seat.

Once he was gone, Micah let out the breath he didn't even realise he was holding. He could only hope that Edward would take the hint now that he didn't want to talk to him and would leave him alone for the rest of the day.

Micah looked up for a split second and saw Edward's pained face looking at him. Swallowing thickly, Micah looked back down to the paper on his desk.

Frowning at the scribbled mess, He scrunched it up into a ball and threw it in the bin before letting out a tired sigh and rested his head in his arms.

As Micah laid there, he couldn't help but wonder if the others where going to do the same as Edward.

He knew Jasper wouldn't, but he couldn't be to sure on the others.

Micah planned on ignoring them because he knew if he didn't, he would probably end up forgiving them quicker than he would like.

Micah was so wrapped up in his own thoughts that he hadn't even noticed someone knew had walked into the classroom.

He didn't notice how this stranger had glowing red eyes. He didn't notice that he had pale white skin. And he definitely didn't notice how the stranger zeroed in on him.

But Edward did. And he wasn't happy. He knew exactly who this person was, and very much disliked the fact he was here.

They didn't need him to protect Micah because they could do it themselves. Having him here would only cause more problems.

The stranger rolled his eyes at the copperheads thoughts. Protect Micah? They couldn't protect Micah. They left him behind with the person who left the note, whoever that was.

That wasn't protecting him. That was painting a big target on his back saying 'Hey! I'm unarmed, shoot me!'

With long strides full of confidence, the stranger practically sauntered over towards the fragile human and sat himself down.

Micah frowned, lifting his head to see who had sat next to him. He silently prayed to whoever was listening that it wasn't Edward.

Looking up, Micah barely held in a gasp at the red eyed vampire sat next to him. Micah squirmed slightly in his seat, was he going to kill him and everyone else in this class?

The stranger chuckled, 'Don't worry, Micah. I'm not here to hurt you. I've been sent to protect you, courtesy of the kings.'

Micah felt his jaw drop at the deep masculine voice echoing around in his head, How di-

'How did I do that?' The vampire enquired.

Micah nodded his head. The stranger smiled, 'It's one of my many gifts.'

Micah nodded again as he tried to comprehend what he was being told, Why did the kings send you to protect me?

'Because you are a Mated human. You must be protected at all costs.'

Micah bit his lip, Can I at least get your name?

The stranger held out his hand, Which Micah took and shook, "Eric Volturi, at your service."
