The Devil Went Down To Gotham (DD x JL x YJ)

The Present

(FYI Matt Murdock is in his mid-thirty's in this book.)

Matt finally did it.

Owning a mixed martial arts/boxing gym dedicated to his dad.

The gym is called:

The Devil's Playground

(Now many will ask, "Why is it called that? I thought it was a dedication to 'Battlin' Jack Murdock. It sounds like one for Daredevil." Well if anyone is a fan of the series and the comics you would understand that Jack Murdock was also called other things in the boxing ring. One of the aliases being "The Devil" hence forth why Matt took the vigilante name of Daredevil.)

The gym was converted from an old factory that stopped manufacturing 20 years ago. So let's just say this gym is absolutely massive. Foggy and Karen helped Matt set up the gym. They called in every favor they could to help set up a lobby, weight lifting machines, punching bags, padded flooring, gymnastics equipment with a foam pit, a rock wall, a gigantic boxing ring that could fit two individual boxing rings in one, fix the plumbing and AC throughout the building, and last but not least a medium sized apartment inside the gym for Matt.

They managed to set all of it up within 2 months. It took a lot of effort and backbreaking work, but they did it.

Today, was the first official day of the gym being opened to the public. Karen had the bright idea to print thousands of flyers and scatter them around the city of Gotham.

Foggy and Karen decided to stay for the first three days the gym was open so that Matt wouldn't get overwhelmed with the new gym members. They would be leaving to go back to Hell's Kitchen and pick up more clients for Foggy at the law firm.

Matt knew Karen and Foggy were going to get together as a couple within the next week of going back to Hell's Kitchen. He sensed their heartbeats pick up around one another and he knew they were sharing heated stares whenever they thought Matt wasn't in their general area. He chuckled to himself with that last thought, before he headed to the front door of the gym to unlock it.

Matt wanted to open the gym at 8 AM so everyone could get some sleep since they worked so hard the past couple weeks to set all of this up for him.

Karen and Foggy would be handling the front desk for these few days. After they leave, Matt will start to hire people he believes he can trust to manage the desk or help clean up the gym during closing time.

Matt decided to prop the doors open because of the wonderful breeze weather. He walked from the doors and turned his head towards the desk area where his two friends stood excited for their friend.

"You guys ready?", Matt asked.

"Hell yeah!", Foggy and Karen said in unison then both giggled.

Matt chuckled while shaking his head and walked toward the punching bags.

Richard Grayson POV:
(He is 21 years old in this book)

Walking along the streets of Gotham City...

Richard Grayson decided he needed to get out of the mansion and away from the young justice squad. He recently had a fight with the group and needed to go somewhere new and let out his frustrations.

Suddenly, a bright pink flyer decided to hit Dick in the face. In anger, he grabbed the flyer in his fist and was about to throw it in the trash but stopped.

In big bold letters at the top of the paper said:

The Devil's Playground

Open from 8AM - 9PM

Every piece of equipment imaginable to workout those muscles!
Offering one-on-one lessons for boxing and mixed martial arts.

We are hiring!

Come join us today!!!

Dick didn't know what to think of this.

Is it a sign or fate? 

He decided to go check out the gym and see if it peaked his interest. If it did, maybe it can finally be somewhat of a day job for him.

It took about 20 minutes to walk to the gym from where he was. It was a good thing Dick didn't need to head to the manor to get a change of gym cloths, he was already dressed for a run.

Walking into the gym, Dick took notice of how spacious it was. As his gaze swept across the the weight area and the boxing ring, he took notice of the gymnastic side of the gym. Dick was in awe of it all. There was more equipment here for whatever he needed then at the manor.

Dick smiled at that.

Dick didn't notice that he was stuck staring, still in the lobby area. As he broke out of the trance, he saw a man and woman, smirking his way. Happy that someone was impressed with the gym.

Dick walked toward the front desk.

The woman smiled kindly at him and said, " Well hello there! Welcome to the grand opening of Devil's Playground! My names Karen and this is Foggy!", pointing to the heavier man beside her, "What can we help you with today?".

Dick smiled back, "Hi there! Well I was hoping to workout today and see how I feel about this place. By the way, this place looks very impressive.", nodding to their surroundings, " I also saw the flyer saying you we're hiring. If I like it here and make a good impression maybe I could work here?" He said nervously scratching the back of his neck with a smile.

Karen and Foggy chuckled sharing a look with one another. Foggy spoke this time, "Well thank you for the compliment. Our friend, Matt, is the owner of the gym. He wanted to do this for a long time, it's kinda like a dream for him to be doing this. The first part of your question is it's $5 for one day. As for the hiring part, that is Matt's job. He is the owner. Matt is over in the boxing area at the moment with the bags. I would leave him be for now. I suggest you go workout and then talk to him.", at this Dick nodded and Foggy continued.

"He is a great guy and a good friend. Just don't interrupt his workout, he gets too far in the zone he won't pay attention to you. I'll let him know you are interested and you both can talk later."

Dick took a few moment and said, "What kind of lessons of martial arts is taught here? I would love to know more."

"That will be another question you will need to talk to Matt about. That is all him. We are just here for a couple days till the gym kicks off. That is why we are at the counter while Matt considers people." Karen spoke up this time.

Dick nodded his head and said, " Well can I get that day pass please? And I would greatly appreciate an interview with Matt if he is willing to."

Karen rung Dick up for his pass and Foggy made a note to talk to Matt about someone wanting an interview.

Although, Matt heard the whole conversation with his enhanced hearing.

From Dick's interaction with Karen and Foggy, Matt already made his decision.
