Loki's POV

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I can't let you die here."

Loki thinks you probably can't hear him. He can barely hear himself, his voice is so weak.

There's no way in Hel he'll be able to teleport all five of you out of here. With just the two of you though... it might be possible.

You also might get halfway and get stuck in the ground and instantly suffocate and die, but Loki is trying to be optimistic.

He can either do nothing and undoubtedly die down here, along with you, or try and get you out of here and maybe die trying. He knows which one he'd rather.

But you'll never forgive him. He knows how similar this is to the mission which forced you out of being an agent, if history repeats itself because of him... he knows you'll never forgive him.

But he can't let you die down here. Not now; not like this.

As he's trying to summon the absolute last dregs of his energy to teleport you out, you crouch down so that your face is almost level with his, your power glowing dimly at your fingertips.

The light from your hand illuminates your face in the darkness, your beautiful face which he loves more than anything else on this godforsaken realm. He should have told you earlier. Now he might not get the chance.

You're the only thing worth saving, even if you might not think so yourself.

As he's thinking this, you're saying something to him, and he opens his mouth to tell you again that he's sorry but he's not going to let you die here, but his voice is drowned out by the sound of the roof caving in.

He sees the desperation in your eyes, and then you're dragging him through the freezing water which is filling the room and he's telling you to stop, stop, this isn't helping...

Loki reaches out blindly and manages to find your hands, pulling you down towards him without much resistance. He wants you close, just in case. Just in case this doesn't work and this is it.

He holds you to him and closes his eyes and prays that this will work.
