15 ~~INT. Y/N'S APARTMENT~~ 15

It is later that night and y/n is sitting at her table again, still writing her report.

She's gotten further ahead, but still isn't finished.

She looks at the report and sighs.

She leans back in her chair and looks out the window.

There's suddenly a knock at the door.

Y/n looks in the direction of the knock.

She gets up and walks over to the door.

She opens it and sees Peter standing there.

Y/N
Peter. I wasn't expecting to see you again tonight.

PETER
Can I come in?

Y/N
Yes, of course.

Y/n steps to the side as Peter steps into her apartment.

Y/n shuts the door.

Y/N
So, what's up? How was the play?

PETER
Oh. I didn't get to see it.

Y/N
What? Why not?

PETER
I was late and the usher wouldn't let me in, but that's not what I came here to talk about.

Y/N
Oh. Okay. Well, what did you come here to talk about?

Y/n sits back down at her table as Peter sits down on y/n's couch.

PETER
Has anything strange been happening with you lately? Like with your powers?

Y/N
Um no.

PETER
Nothing? Nothing at all?

Y/N
No. Why?

Peter sighs.

PETER
Well, I saw some police cars and started swinging after them, when suddenly, the webs wouldn't come out.

Y/n gives Peter a confused, bewildered look.

PETER
It was really weird. I had to take the elevator and walk home.

Y/n doesn't say anything.

PETER
This has never happened to me before. And I don't know what to do, or if my powers will come back. So, I came here.

Y/n hesitates before speaking.

Y/N
Wow. That is...weird. That hasn't happened to me. I mean, I literally jumped from building to building to get here.

PETER
Oh. So, it's just me then.

Y/N
I'm sorry, Peter. I wish I could help. I didn't even know losing your powers was possible.

PETER
Me neither.

They are both silent.

Y/n suddenly gets a panicked look.

Y/N
Wait, if you don't have your powers. How are you going to stop crimes and save lives?

PETER
I don't know. I guess I can't.

Y/N
If you can't, then what am I gonna do? I'm not as great as you! I suck at saving people! In fact, if it weren't for you showing up tonight, that group of people who almost got crushed by that police car would've been dead!

Y/n stands up abruptly and begins pacing, worriedly.

PETER
Y/n, that's not true. You're a great superhero. You save people all the time. I mean, tonight, you knocked the guns out of those criminals' hands. No ordinary person could do that.

Y/n stops pacing.

Y/N
I'm not talking about ordinary people! I'm talking about us! Superheroes!

Peter doesn't say anything.

Y/N
I should be the person who's losing their powers, not you. If I lost my powers, it wouldn't matter. I don't matter.

Peter stands up suddenly.

PETER
What?! Y/n, how could you say that?! You're one of my closest friends! Of course you matter! You're the one who helped me figure all this superhero stuff out. If it weren't for you, I might've become a supervillain by now.

Y/n laughs weakly.

Peter walks over to y/n and holds her hands in his.

They make eye contact.

PETER
Don't ever think that you don't matter. I really need you, y/n. And not just your help. I need...you.

Y/n doesn't respond.

They both stare at each other until Peter breaks away.

He begins walking towards the door.

PETER
Well, I guess I better go.

Y/N
Alright.

They're both silent.

PETER
Bye.

Y/N
Bye.

Peter gives y/n one last look.

They both smile at each other, weakly.

Peter then turns towards the door and opens it.

He shuts the door behind him.

Y/n stares at the door and sighs.

Y/N
I just wanna tell you how I feel.

Y/n shakes her head.

Y/N
I need you too, Peter. More than you'll ever know.
