Chapter 15- I Know You

(~Your POV~)

"You summoned for me?" I ask, straight to the point. My master responds to me immediately.

[Ah yes! My beautiful darling gem. Are you well?]

"I'm in good health, but I'm afraid I'm confused." I reply, drawing him out.

[Why? Has something happened?]

"I requested more time through your messenger. Did you not receive it?"

[Yes. I did. Why is that of importance?]

I glance at Sans, who's looking at me with a saddened look. Immediately, I look away and respond, "If you did, why did you not postpone the 3-day arrangement?"

[Darling, you are not the one who gives the orders here. Asking for more time after two weeks of no communication makes me wonder if you're in your right state of mind. You never had any problems with previous jobs like this before if you just concentrated.]

I silently curse him in my mind.

'This is going to be harder than I thought. No emotion, Y/N. Keep it back.'

I explain myself in a simple lie, "The two hosts, they don't trust me. Their eyes were on me at all times for the two weeks. I apologize for my ineffectiveness."

I take a deep breath and continue, "With all due respect, the plan was faltered. The two monsters you sent went off script. The eldest brother, Sans, he caught onto it and killed them. He assumed I had planned it and I went through harsh interrogations the entire night. I could've been killed and your plan would've failed instantly. Now, both have growing suspicions."

[Well, this is a problem. Now isn't it?]

"Yes Sir. I politely ask for your understanding and-"

[Y/N. My sweet Y/N. You know I raised you.]

I'm puzzled by his misdirected response, but I keep my mind clear, "Yes Master. My loyalty remains to you. I'm eternally in your debt."

[You're beautiful, smart, loyal, and everything that I've trained you to be. But I'm afraid, I know you far more than you think.]

"I'm sorry, Master. I assume you're referring to my failure with this mission." I hear him sigh from the other end of the phone.

[I taught you everything. You think I'm not able to see through my own deceiving lessons and tricks, darling? I taught you how to lie.]

My heart stops.

[I know if these brothers were really as suspicious as you claim, even as suspicious to put you through an all-night interrogation, you wouldn't of gotten access to this phone. You wouldn't even be allowed to walk freely around the house as you are now.]

I'm really fighting to stay calm, but my soul is throbbing. My head feels like it's spinning.

[I know that we've had some troubling occasions with you. In the rare case that you let yourself get attached, you procrastinate. Am I right?]
