Ever since the mention of Yoshi my dad excused himself to go talk on the telephone. He comes back into the room after composing himself. He sends Jimin another untrustworthy smile.

Dad: What it boils down to Jimin isn't about what you have now, it's about what you'll have in the future. Can your business last? Can it out-do or outsell it's competition?

I sigh getting tired of hearing the same old thing he tells every potential business partner. Jimin nods and spits out a bunch of "mhm's" in hopes that the older man will shut up.

Jimin: You seem like a wise man. All of your other business partners must've had a hard time keeping up with you.
Dad: Exactly, they couldn't see my vision. You're young so you're more understanding. You see old people get more close minded with age.

That's the truest thing he's ever said.

Dad: So what do you say Jimin? Do we have a deal?
Jimin: I would be a fool to accept the first deal, no?

My eyes land on the bug he's sticking under the other side of my father's desk. It'll pick up anything that's said in this room.

Dad: Sharp young man. Give me a call back in a week.
Jimin: Perfect, thanks for your time.

We say our "goodbyes" and my dad sighs.

Dad: He won't be an easy one to crack.
Wooyoung: Crack?
Dad: Mhm, I've checked his numbers and production flow honestly speaking he doesn't need a partner.

True, but in order to take you down we needed to pretend he does.

Dad: I'm going to have some of my guys check out Yoshi's business.
Seonghwa: Yoshi, why?
Dad: Just interested in what my old pal has been up to.

He gives us a forced smile.

The guys went off to closely monitor my dad and any moves he makes. Seonghwa decided to rent a hotel room for the night, he said going home might not be what's best for me.

I agree, the last thing I remember before passing out was Jihyo. Speaking of that I heard from Mingi things didn't end so well with her.

He pokes my cheek bringing me back to reality.

Seonghwa: You look exhausted, I'll run you a bath.

He's changed a lot since the first time I met him. I lean against the doorframe as he turns on the water. He glances over at me.

Seonghwa: What?
Me: Where did this nice guy come from? What happened to the guy that always glared at me or ignored me?

He chuckles, standing to his feet.

Seonghwa: I was mad at the wrong person. Our fathers were the problem, mine isn't as bad as yours but he isn't innocent. I'm sorry.

Sorry?

Me: S-sorry? Who are you and what have you done with Seonghwa?
Seonghwa: Don't misunderstand I'm still here, but you've been through enough for a while.

He walks out leaving me alone with my thoughts. I strip out my clothes and settle into the hot water. My body is screaming, pleading me to relax soon.

Once this is all over then what?

Will Seonghwa and I divorce? Where will I live? What will I do?

Too much.

I get out before I turn into a prune making sure to dry off completely before putting on my pajamas. Once I'm out he goes in to take his bath.

There's only one bed but I'm honestly too tired to care. I climb onto the right side and practically pass out right there.

A little while later I feel Seonghwa climb into the bed, and turning off the light above us. He smells good, like fresh baby powder.

Me: Seonghwa?
Seonghwa: Hm?
Me: Thank you.

It's a brief silence.

Seonghwa: For?
Me: Protecting me, one day I'll pay you back.
Seonghwa: Oh yeah?
Me: Mhm.
Seonghwa: I'll remember that.

I roll over to see he's facing towards me. The moonlight shines through the curtain, he's so handsome. He doesn't look mean or troubled, just peaceful.

I reach out to touch his face and surprisingly he doesn't stop me. He sits his hand gently on top of mine.

Seonghwa: You're pretty.
Me: Thank you.
Seonghwa: Go to sleep now.

That night, I slept better than I have in months.
