Two years later

Far away down the night sky at an old, preserved movie theatre— the kind only found in a small town— stood a long line of waiting, noisy college boys and girls.

It was very picturesque and had a red marquee hanging in front of it.

'SNEAK PREVIEW TONIGHT 'STAB''

The row of people reached far around the block. Everyone was hyped up and cheering, dying to see the freshly released movie. All except for one person.

"I hate scary movies."

A girl around the age of eighteen stood almost in front of the row. She was dark skinned and had a friendly face with light eyes and very short-cut, dark hair.

Next to her stood her boyfriend Phil. He was the same age as her and had an intimidating physique. Overall, a really attractive guy.

"It'll be okay, baby. I'll hold your hand."

Maureen rolled her eyes. "If we hurry, we can still catch the Sandra Bullock movie."

Phill shook his head, pulling her close to snuggle into her. "We got free tickets."

A couple minutes of bickering later, the two of them reached the box office to present their tickets and went inside.

They passed through the glass front doors where one of the coworkers was randomly handing out masks, a Hollywood variation of a very familiar one.

Phil happily took one from the man.

"What's that?" Maureen asked, eyeing the item like it was a disease.

The coworker responded boredly. "The studio sent them as souvenirs."

The small theatre was nearly packed to capacity. Maureen and her boyfriend entered, moving down the aisle to search for two seats.

There was a random girl screaming, who whizzed by them as a masked guy chased after her. The crowd was laughing wildly and everyone seemed to be having fun, maybe a little bit too much.

The couple found seated themselves nearly at the front row just in time as the lights dimmed and the credits rolled as the movie started.

Maureen gasped when she turned in her seat and found a white ghost mask staring her right in the face.

"Take it off," she swatted Phil.

Phil protested sadly. "But..."

With one glare thrown into his direction, the male sighed and obliged, reluctantly pulling it off.

Maureen peered behind her toward the rest of the audience. A sea of white ghost faces filled the room and the publicity masks actually glowed in the dark, leaving her extremely creeped out.

The sound of a phone ringing came from the screen.

The actress who was playing Casey Becker had been taking a shower and pulled the shower curtain aside to reveal a robe hung on a hook.

She grabbed it and dressed herself in it, speedwalking from the bathroom into the living room to pick up the phone. "Hello?"
