No one knew what to expect in Undertale. Truth was, they realized anything could happen. Classic was no doubt irritated and quick to temper, a ticking timebomb. What they never planned for was the damage already dealt. The lack of bodies and eerie silence only backed the thoughts. Even though they were in Snowdin, the snow was off color. It resembled the hue of dust, leaving most ill. Even Nightmare was beyond words.
"You don't think..."
"You guys are idiots. What did you expect by forcing him back?" That voice alone drew all gazes, Dust behind them.
"Dust? When did you get up?" He scowled, looking to the mess of the space.
"I never went to sleep. Can we find Classic before hell breaks loose? I'll warn you, he kills the human, there won't be a fix to this." Ink gave a questioning look. "He's like me, remember? He'll do what I did and regret it. So fix this mess Ink, or so help me..."
"Easy Dust. They are here to help." The skeleton gave a short nod, brushing off.
"Good. Follow me."
"You know where he is? How?" Dust frowned, giving a harsh 'tch'.
"Who do you think got him into killing. I know more about him then anyone. Says something about the useless protector we have!" Ink wanted to speak, but fell silent at most gazes. It left the protector to shrink back as the group followed.
The further they had traveled into Undertale, the more dust that settled on the ground. It was no shock to Dust. He'd brought Classic to such a state. To desire and enjoy the thrill of killing. It was a simple task and he was hard enough to kill. With the rate of the killings, finding the current placement was easy. The group marched further, finding Classic's house. The door was busted open, bones stabbed everywhere. Cracks raced along the structure, shingles from the rough shattered on the ground below. The mailbox was torn down, letters and whatnot spread everywhere the wind took them.
"Is he here?" Error's tone was serious, leaving Dust to shake his head.
"He'll be up ahead. Where the human most likely kills Papyrus on Genocide." Nightmare sighed, leading the way as they hurried onward. Dust felt conflicted in those moments. Classic was his life and he never once regretted teaching Classic his ways. But he didn't want to see Classic suffer like him. To be haunted by regret. Killing ones brother left a wound none could see. But a part of Dust also desired it. To assure there was nothing left. If Classic was held down by a world, Dust felt a need to watch the world crumble. Even if it meant the original was no longer a true original. If he diverted. Truth was, he'd still be the main code of all. No matter the choice, Classic would always be the true beginning. The one that dealt the most with the twisted ways of the system.
So it came to Dusts inner thoughts. Whether he truly wanted the world to leave or not. There were pros. There were cons. He simply had to weigh them. Judge what was better. He adored his Classic, as crazy as they'd become. Crazy never bothered him, not for a single moment and he figured he was best suited to aid in recovering regret. But Classic had a family he cherished. A brother that adored him and still held life. It left so many conflicting thoughts. Most came down to a single point. Whether Classic keep his bonds, or forge new ones. Break away, or remain chained by the fucked up system...
"Dust? Come on!" Snapping from his thoughts, Dust followed as they traveled the dense fog. The further they got, the more voices became distinguishable. The silhouettes were pronounced, revealed to be Classic and Papyrus. The younger and older brother, both holding different emotions than usual. No love, only fear, betrayal, and disgust. It was a heart wrenching sight, one that reminded Dust of everything. Of his choices.
