Chapter 4: The shadowed figure

It was 8:45 pm and Sebastian, Ciel, and the twins were gathered in the main room.
"We have everything we need." Sebastian said.
"Come on then what are we waiting for?" Ciel said and as he turned around to exit Grell and Ronald bursted in the door.
"Your help has arrived my darling!~" Grell said winking.
"Honestly....was that necessary?" William said walking in.
"Oh come on Mr. Spears! We are here to help them right?" Ronald asked
"Unfortunately...." William said glaring at the Kazugiri demon.
Karina looked at him.

"I've never seen such light green eyes before...."

"We should get going to our destination then." Kiril suggested clearing his throat as he noticed Grell staring at him and his sister.
"Agreed.." Ciel said and exited the room.

After a few minutes of travel, they have arrived in the dark alleyway and waited for something or someone to appear.
"So" Grell said "Tell me about yourself darling~" Grell said attempting to flirt with Karina.
This got William very agitated which resulted him in hitting Grell with his scythe.
"Ow!!" Grell yelped
"Will you behave yourself Sutcliff? Honestly." William rolled his eyes.
Meanwhile Kiril and Karina was asking questions to Ronald about a reaper's job.
"Is it fun being a reaper?" Kiril asked
"It's alright I guess. Just not the paperwork." Ronald said
"Say, I never thought I would see a pure born reaper..that is twins with a demon." Ronald said.
"Yes but we still have traits like the other. For example I am a demon yet I can still eat human food but only a little...and i require little sleep." Karina said
"As for me, I still have a demon form and I can eat as much souls as I please...but I require lots of sleep." Kiril said
"Good to know!" Ronald said smiling.
During the conversation, William just looked at Ronald making friends with the twins.
"Filthy demon." He thought. He couldn't believe that a reaper like Kiril is also capable of having demon blood in him.

"There is something about that demon....I can't put my finger on it..."

Out of nowhere, they all heard a loud scream of a woman...it sounded like she was being killed.

"We have to go. We might have found the culprit!!" Ciel yelled!
"The next victim..." Grell said
"Another victim..." Karina said running, but she felt a strong grip on her wrist pulling her back....William?
Karina looked at her wrist to see William's hand holding on to her.
"Uh- I- just did not want you to get there first otherwise you would contaminate the soul...probably eat it." William said calmy.
"Trust me, I just ate souls a few centuries ago. If longer I would have gone feral. Plus did you forget I can eat a little bit of human food?" Karina stated.
William knew this, so why did he grip on to her like that??
"You have a thing with gripping people's wrist you know that." Karina stated which caught William off guard and Karina to walk off...leaving William in shock.
She was right...William did grip her wrist a few moments ago using his scythe to stop Karina from contaminating the soul. He shook his head and thought nothing of it.

When William got to the scene he saw everyone gathering around the second victim of the Dark Cryptic.

"Underground?" Kiril asked
"Could it be Lau Sebastian?..." Ciel asked
Sebastian shook his head. "Lau is in Tokyo."
"It seems the Dark Cryptic is underground." Ronald said
"We have to go to the sewers?!" Grell asked whining
"It's the only way! Now let's go!" Ciel said

The sewers were dark, cold, filthy, and Grell swore she saw a rat running around. After a while of walking Karina saw a figure in all black in the shadows.
"Well well well..." The figure said. It was a voice of a woman. Sebastian stood infront of the rest.
"Are you the culprit that has been killing innocent bystanders around London?" Ciel asked
"Perhaps...." The woman said.
"I do not care who she is get her!" Grell said
"No not yet..." Sebastian whispered

"The woman....she smells odd..."
The culprit turned to the twins.
"Well well well if it isn't the Kazugiri twins..."
"How do you know who we are?" Kiril asked keeping his guard up
"Oh I've heard all about you...you were once angels in the gates of heaven yes? But you were banished and you are a demon and a reaper." The culprit replied.
"Angels?!" Everyone said
"We will explain later!" Karina said.
The culprit laughed..."You intend to stop me hm? Well that won't be happening anytime soon" The culprit went closer to Karina and Kiril and was about 2 feet away from them.
"Such a shame.." she said "You both could have had so much potential...but no. Kiril is destined to be a reaper and Carly is destined to be a demon."

"Carly?" How did the culprit knew Karina's nickname? Only Kiril and her family has ever used that name.

"Do I know you?" Karina asked.
Suddenly, the twins felt really weird all of a sudden. The culprit had thrown a mysterious potion on both of them.
"Sebastian get her!!" Ciel ordered
Even Sebastian wasn't quick enough....the Dark Cryptic vanished into the darkness. Everyone aided Karina and Kiril. What happened to them?
Karina threw up while Kiril's head hurt a lot.
"Darling?! Are you alright?!" Grell asked helping Kiril.
"I'm fine..." Kiril replied wincing in pain. "My sister..." he coughed "Help her!"
"Darling....your eyes..." Grell said looking at Kiril

"They're red!"

William was about to help Karina but then he notcied her eyes...they were light green....just like his.
"I can't see a thing!" Karina said "Everything is blurry. I'm blind!"
"Blurry..." William thought.
Sebastian helped up the twins and put them side by side.
"What happened to them...." Ciel said
"I feel...strong. And everything is very clear." Kiril said
"I can't see anything!" Karina yelled putting her hands in front of her.
"Wait a moment..." William said walking over which made everyone look at him. He took out a spare of glasses and put them carefully on her face.
"She actually looks good with glasses. Hell, she looks good either way." William thought
"I can see clearly.." Karina said
"Uhh I am not following here.." Ronald said confused.
"The potion made Karina and Kiril switch. Carly is now a reaper and Kiril was now a demon." William said
"That is impossible! And who gave you the right to call me Carly?!" Karina said trying not to feel sick
"My lady...you are in no state of arguing with William. You need rest. You are now a reaper which may affect your sleep schedule." Sebastian said
"Isn't this dangerous?!" Grell yelled
"What do we do now?" Ciel asked
"Karina might have to come with us to the reaper realm while Kiril goes with you both." William said
"Are you insane? You are not separating me from my sister!" Kiril said
"Look at her.." Ronald said. "She's ill and because she is a reaper for now she has to be with us for the time being."
"I'll be fine...after all. We may find clues faster." Karina said weakly.
"Alright." Kiril said. "Take care of her...please"
"We will do not fret darling." Grell said. "We will take very good care of her."
Just like that, William summoned a portal to the reaper realm while Grell and Ronald helped Karina walk with her new glasses...
