"Are you-"
"Don't worry about it. Actually, forget what you just saw, please," I desperately begged. No one but me had ever seen that side of Corey before now, and I was hoping it'd stay that way. I did hate him, but I wasn't going to ruin his life. Yet.
"But h-"
"Forget. It." I could tell by the way he clenched his jaw even tighter when I said this that he wasn't going to anytime soon, but I didn't really care as long as he'd stop bugging me about it. "Oh, and don't hurt Corey."
Adam's eyes flashed an emotion I couldn't decipher, but he quickly cleared it off and looked at me with a blank face. He opened his mouth to argue, but then stopped and just nodded.
'Even if I say it'll be alright, still I hear you say you want to end your-' Startled, I looked around. Adam pulled out his cell phone, and judging by the annoyed tone he adopted, it was probably his mom or dad. He looked across the street at the house in front of mine, and nodded. Oooh, so now I figured out who my mystery neighbors were... Oh.
"Hey, I gotta go help my uncle do something, I'll see you tomorrow in school?"
"If I'm not in the principal's office, yes." He gave me a curious look.
"Why would you be in the principal's office?"
"Did you not notice the time when I showed up? It wasn't exactly after 3:00."
"Oh." I grimaced, then sighed.
"Bye Adam. I guess I'll go get some beauty sleep to fix this damage."
He walked up in about 2 strides and gently put a finger under my chin, forcing me to look up at him.
"There's no damage to fix, you're beautiful anyways. That's why you're name's Belle." He pressed his lips to my forehead.
"You missed..." I muttered under my breath.
"What?"
"Nothing. Bye Adam. Thanks." He nodded again.
"Bye Belle. Don't forget what I just said."
"Only if you DO forget what happened."
Now HE sighed, and shook his head. "See you tomorrow..." he called, crossing the street.
