Chapter 44
Pang habang-buhay

He was willing to marry me... Ang tagal niya na pala akong gustong pakasalan. He was so sure of me that he was even ready to adjust to my life's pacing.

Without any doubt, I called his number. He didn't answer again that's why I called Ate Eve. Pero gaya ng kapatid niya ay hindi rin ito sumagot. Sunod kong tinawagan si Elmo.

"Sis! Napatawag ka."

"Alam mo ba kung nasaan si Maxon ngayon?" I played with my fingers while waiting for his answer, hoping that he knows where he is.

"Ah, nandito kami ngayon sa bahay niya sa Cavite. Ngayon sched niya ng radiotherapy, sasamahan namin ni Zed. Bakit?"

"Thank you Elmo! You're a lifesaver!" I said before ending the call.

I stared at the monitor for about a minute. I saw how it stated that we're already boarding. My grip tightened at my luggage's handle.

Vancouver, this kind of opportunity only knocks once...

But this love... this love is only once in a lifetime.

I took a deep breath when I finally made my decision.

This is the risk that I am willing to take. I am ready to face the consequences of my actions.

I may not be certain about the outcome, but I'm sure that I won't regret anything. Kahit anong sagot niya, okay lang. Basta masabi ko ang nararamdaman ko.

If he accepts me, then I'll be the happiest woman alive.

If he rejects me, then at least I learned my lesson. He will always remain in my heart.

Free will... I'm going to make the most out of it.

I pulled my luggage hurriedly. Lumabas ako ng airport at nag-abang ng taxi. My heart was pounding out loud as I waited for a ride. I opened my phone and scrolled down again to completely finish reading.

The next one was my 18th birthday celebration, it's taken by a polaroid camera. Nakaupo kami sa sofa. Kaming dalawa ang naroon at buhat ko ang aso naming si Macy.

Family pic :> legal na ang bebe ko. Pwede na kami magparty, papapasukin na kami sa mga club jk bawal pala kami ro'n lagot kami kay Mama. Sa church lang daw pwede.

And the last picture was our picnic date, the moment that I finally decided that I wanted us to be official. Ang isang kamay ko ay may hawak na puting bulaklak habang ang isang kamay naman ay hawak niya.

I'm the luckiest guy on earth. You finally allowed me to be your boyfriend. The long wait is over.

I memorized the lines that I wanted to say inside of my head. I wanted him to take me back. I want us back. I practised it so many times while I was in the taxi. Wala akong ibang pinaghahawakan kundi ang pagmamahal niya. His love was written in each caption that I read.

I coordinated with Elmo that I was going to his house. Nakiusap pa ako na huwag niyang sabihin sa kaibigan dahil baka itaboy agad ako.

Kumaway sa akin si Zed na inuudyok ako na pumasok na sa kwarto. Inalalayan niya ako na itabi muna sa isang gilid 'yung mga bagahe ko.
