" You do realize, if you do this you will forfeit eternity? All knowledge that you have been curious to find will be lost to you. " The Light would speak to me as if I had a choice, almost felt like one of those moments my answer meant more than he leads on. " Are they all really worth it? To us, they will seem to pass in a mere moment after this. You can continue on and be all. " His arms wide open, making the entire space we were in transform into the universe, flowing and spinning around us as if to show me all the worlds out there all at once.
" Heh, you know... as a kid, that would have been more tempting. " I reach out to brush my fingers along the light that leads back to my life. " Even now, I can hear my brain screaming at me to take the deal... but see we organic mortals, as you put it... we weren't born with just a brain. " I look back one more time and offer up my biggest smile for a moment. " Right now, "It's" telling me I need to return to somewhere I belong. " All I could hear was a burst of warm laughter, not of the voiceless entity that had been conversing with me this entire time but one of someone older... a hearty laugh that comforted me more so than anything else before a silence enveloped me.
" Mason... " My whole body froze from her voice, that same breathless tone she had when she called out to me in my dreams, likely the last memory I had gathered when barely aware during the crash. " My dear little Mason. How did you get to be so big? " I turned with such pained fear in my heart only to actually see my mother standing right before me, in the blinding light of where I was taken just a moment before.
" M-m-mom? " I felt tears even though they weren't on my cheeks, somehow all the sensation without the actual tears escaping my eyes.
" Can't tell me after all you've seen.. this is what you would classify as "Weird"? " Teasing me so easily, showing her knowledge of my life and all I had been through it seemed with that one word.
" I-I mean.. you can't blame me. Y-you're... " I couldn't hold back as I rushed up to hold her, she was shorter than me now, but I still felt like I was that little kid latching around her waist to find comfort in her.
" Oh, looks like you aren't completely grown up yet huh? " I chuckled so faintly but would shiver and feel gasps leave me from her arm reaching up to rumble through my hair a bit, ever checking on me even when I was in my most perfect state in this place. " You need a trim, heavens I am gone for a minute and you forget all I teach you. " She always had her way of poking fun just to get us to smile.
" Heh, hey we men always go savage without a woman around to keep us in check. " We both chuckle and laughed at this one, but soon enough she was holding both sides of my face and shushing me gently in that calming tone.
" Always so earnest. You two have become so beautiful, I was worried about what happened... I didn't want my death to-"
" Mom. " I stopped her and reached up, taking her hands and holding them in mine, I felt like it wasn't real, seeing how much larger my hands were than hers now... even now when I stood over her. " What happened that day... it was Bill who helped you, wasn't it? And since you've been here ever since that day... you know what made me flip out like that don't you? "
" Oh, my sweet boy... Bill gave me what he could to help me pull that door off of you. He felt so guilty and broken when he was helping me that... I think he wanted to right the wrong he never could for his own family. " I am sure I had such a confused look on my face, so much time I had spent learning about Omega, I never took the time to understand Bill... almost like I didn't worry enough to believe he was a threat anymore.
" Mom, there is so much I want to tell you... I have so much I-- " I couldn't talk more as I felt the pull starting to drag me away, my grip all that kept me there it felt like as I looked to fro to each of her hands. " No, no! I need more time than I need to! "
