Chapter: Five "Is that a body?"

But I suddenly start to hear grunting.

I walk closer to the grunting, scared because this is the only path that leads to my house. I walk slowly to the almost animalistic noises.

Maybe it's just a small little critter.

"Hello?" I whisper. I walk closer to the sound and see a silhouette of a tall figure, pushing something in the lake. They didn't seem to hear me. I start backing up but I stepped on a twig.

The tall figure snapped their head to me, they tilted their head.

"Who's there?" I hear a familiar voice.

"Rafe?" I question loudly. I meant to say that in my head.

"Y/n?" He asks, "Is that you, love?"

"No." I lie.

Rafe chuckles darkly, "I would know that beautiful voice anywhere." He says and walks towards me, slowly.

"Wait." I say, "Don't move Rafe."

He doesn't stop.

"Is that a body?" I ask.

He stops in his tracks, he slowly looks behind himself, then looks back at me. The moonlight is the only light.

Rafe steps into the moonlight and see blood.

I step back. "Rafe." I breathe out.

He groans.

"Is that blood?" I ask.

"No." He answers.

"What is it?"

"Paint."

"You're lying to me."

He laughs.

I slowly start to back up.

"Don't move." He orders.

I don't listen to him, "Don't make me ask again." He warns. "Stay there."

I start backing up, I take a deep breath and run.

"Don't run from me!" I hear Rafe yell from behind me.

"I did track Rafe I can out run you!" I yell back to him.

Maybe I shouldn't say anything. Just keep on running y/n.

"Y/n!" Rafe yells.

My legs carry me back to my house, I think I lost Rafe a while ago but I couldn't stop running. I almost break down my door but I get in and slam the door shut.

"Y/n?" Kiara questions.

I snap my head to her.

What is everyone doing here?

"Are you okay y/n?" JJ asks me. I ignore him and Kiara.

"Y/n what happened?" Pope asks me.

"I found Rafe in the woods, disposing a body." I look at John B, "Remember that lake dad use to take us to?" I ask.

John B nods his head.

"Yeah well I just ran from Rafe over there."

"Holy shit are you okay? Did he hurt you?" John B asked.

"Nah, all that track I did, really did work out." I grin. "Why is everybody here?" I ask.

"Well I have something to tell you guys." John B paused for dramatic effect. "I found the cross."

"What?"

"How?"

"Wait the cross, like the the the Cross?" JJ asked.

"Yes the cross. What other cross have we been looking for?" I answer.

JJ looked down at his hands and played with the ring I got him two years ago when we first started dating.

John B looked confused, I just shakes my head.

John B continued. "We are going to go get it."

"When?" I ask.

"In a week." He answers.

"Why?" Kiara asked.

"Just trust me." John B answered.

Two hours later of making plans and talking, everyone went home and I went to sleep. Trying my hardest to forget what happened tonight.
