Overtime, Hybrids either adapted, or were killed off. Obviously nowadays, due to simple human rights, like it is to kill a human, it's illegal to kill a hybrid. Over time, The mistreatment and past body parts caused a decrease in Hybrids. Whether it was because they were killed for fun, killed for being who they were, raped, tortured and starved until they died, whatever whoever called themselves humans decided to do. Another reason for the adaptation that occurred as well.

Now it was basically impossible to tell who was a hybrid unless one; they were older and didn't have the adaption, two; failed to gain the adaption, or three; changed in front of you. Otherwise, new generation Hybrids had no tails, or fluffy ears placed on their heads. Only when they transformed into their animal self would you know who they really were.

Which is why Hyunjin used to find his life so amazingly simple. Hybrids weren't like vampires, needing blood, or in their instance, needing to change forms. Hybrids could stay in whatever form they wanted for however long. With that being said, it was easier to sleep and regain energy in the animal form—but still that didn't mean Hyunjin had to change informer of everyone because he was on a time limit.

So he found college seemingly easy, as for his whole life. He felt free to run around with everyone else, lying through his teeth about being human himself. Wearing the mask of a human, like a mascaraed ball, he met Chanwoo, a kind and playful boy who he swore he'd be by the rest of his life. Of course at first it was a strong friendship, but both sides realized that they felt more—wanted more.

They were together in an instant, and were always hooked by the hip. You could've asked anyone they knew and you'd get the same response, "Yeah, they were always together."

The relationship went on strong, and after 11 months of dating, Hyunjin decided he would confront Chanwoo about something he'd kept for too long. Hyunjin had worked himself over it, agreed that if Chanwoo wouldn't except him that it was okay, that just meant that he wasn't the one. So after both of their classes had finished for the day, Hyunjin pulled Chanwoo down to sit on the couch in their dorm.

"Babe I don't think i've ever seen you so serious." Chanwoo had joked, and Hyunjin tried to smile at it. He just didn't know what to expect and it scared him.

"Because I have something serious to tell you."

Chanwoo cringed, "Did I do something wrong? Am I not good enough? Are you breaking up with me?" It should've been red flag after red flag but Hyunjin just saw it as fear.

"No, it's none of that. In fact, it's something about me." Chanwoo had shut himself up and listened.

"I was scared to tell you, tell anybody really. So I understand if your feelings change after I tell you." Chanwoo had gripped Hyunjin's hands in his own, a reassuring squeeze kept him going.

"I'm a Hybrid."

That day he should've noticed how the hold on his hands loosened but he didn't. He should've noticed the twitch of the eyebrow, the faltering of Chanwoo calm face. Yet he didn't, and fell for it all. Chanwoo had pulled him into a hug, telling him that it was okay and he didn't see Hyunjin any differently. And Hyunjin believed him. It had been Hyunjins greatest mistake.

The next couple weeks felt the same as they always did, until Hyunjin noticed a distance. Chanwoo wasn't around him as much, always coming up with excuses as to why. Sometimes he'd even lash out at Hyunjin saying things such as "Do you not trust me?!," "I have my own life, I can do as I please," or "You don't control me."
