we all ran into will's bedroom.

"HIS ARMY! maybe if we stop him, we can stop his army!" mike shouted. he picked up a piece of paper from will's desk.

"the shadow monster?" i asked.

"it hit will on that day at the field. the doctor said it was like a virus, it can spread."

"ok so this virus is connecting him to the tunnels?" max asked.

"to the tunnels, to the monsters, the upside down, everything!" mike shouted again.

"woah woah woah slow down." steve grabbed the drawing from mike.

"ok, so the shadow monster is inside everything. the vines feel something like pain, will feels pain."

"and so does dart." lucas pulled together.

"it's like what mr. clarke taught us: the hive mind." mike looked at all of us.

"hive mind?" steve asked.

"a collective conscious. it's a hyper organism." dustin answered steve.

"this is what controls everything. it's the brain!" mike kept pointing and poking the drawing.

"the mind flayer!" dustin shouted.

"the what?"

dustin got his d&d manual, and placed it on the table. he opened it to the page with the mind flayer on it.

we all gathered around the table.

"the mind flayer." he said.

"what the hell is that?" hopper asked, leaning over me.

"it's a monster from an unknown dimension. it's so ancient, that it doesn't even know it's own home." i said. i looked over at steve, and he leaned closer to me.

"it takes over people's brains with it's hyper-dimensional powers." dustin concluded.

"oh my god, none of this is real. it's from a kid's game." hopper complained.

"it's a manual, and it's not for kids. unless you know something that we don't know this is the best-"

"analogy." lucas interrupted.

dustin got mad. "analogy. that's what you're worried about?! for understanding what the hell this is?!"

"ok so this mind flamer thing-" nancy tried to stop the fighting.

"flayer, mind flayer." he corrected her.

"what does it want?" i jumped in.

"to conquer. it has master power."

"like the uh germans." steve pointed out.

everyone gave him a look.

"you mean the nazis?" i asked.

steve realized he was wrong. "yea, yea the nazis."

hopper looked away in embarrassment.

i had second hand embarrassment for steve.

"yea if they were nazis from another dimension." dustin said.
