robin and i were scooping ice cream this rotation because it was a little busy.

i put the money in cash register, and robin handed the couple their ice cream.

"have a nice day." she said with no enthusiasm.

when the couple moved, i noticed the familiar curly-haired tween waiting behind them. i had a huge burst of energy. "dustin!" i jumped over the counter and gave him a huge hug.

he just cane back from summer camp. "YO KAT!" dustin turned to robin. "hi!"

"hi." she answered, with no smile.

"i'm dustin!"

"i'm robin."

"pleasure to meet you. is he here?" dustin was talking about steve.

"is who here?"

just then, steve busted through the back room's door, with a huge smile on his face. "HENDERSON!" he screamed.

dustin was laughing.

"he's back! he's back!" steve was jumping up and down.

"i'm back! you got the job!"

"i got the job! yay!" steve made a trumpet noise, while he put his hands up like he was playing one. then he went to dustin and they did their handshake.

they pretended like they were in a lightsaber fight.

steve was acting like a child, which made me laugh along with them.

"how many children are guys you friends with?" robin asked.

steve sighed.

i prepared dustin a banana boat, and since the shop was now less busy, robin kept slinging the ice cream, while i took a break. i sat with steve and dustin at one of the tables.

dustin was explaining to us about camp and his new girlfriend.

"no way. hotter than phoebe cates? no." steve couldn't believe that.

hell, i couldn't either. i didn't think dustin's girlfriend was real.

"brilliant too! she doesn't even care that my real pearls are still coming in!" dustin took a bite of his banana boat. "she says kissing is better without teeth."

i looked at steve, trying not to laugh. "...wow ok! that's great! i'm proud of you man! that's kinda romantic!"

"do you guys really get to eat this stuff as much as you want?" dustin took another bite.

"yea, i mean sure. it's not really a good idea for me though. i gotta keep in shape for the ladies. especially this one." steve pointed his thumb toward me.

that made me blush.

"yea and how's that working out for you?" robin jumped in, while she was cleaning up a spill.

"ignore her." i chuckled.

"she seems cool." dustin said.

"she's not." steve jumped.

i slapped his shoulder. "she is. she's my cousin."

"so, where are the other knuckleheads?" steve asked.

dustin threw his spoon into the ice cream. "they ditched me yesterday." he frowned.

"no-" i gasped.

"my first day back, can you believe that shit?" dustin was mad.
