*two days later*

                 Will was pacing the floor of the ED staff room, he thought he would know much more about Riley's condition than he currently does, because right now he doesn't know very much.  All he knows is that she's on a vent for safety measures and she's stable for now, but that's all he knows.  Jay knows just as much as his brother does, but both brothers are in terrible states.  They can't bare the thought of Riley being all alone, or her not making it, it's unfair on them all, but more so unfair for Riley.

~~~~~~~~
Riley was the most scared she's ever been, even more scared than when she was standing in front of her old step dad, or when she had took two bullets, this was the cherry on the cake for her traumatic experiences. She's on a vent, she knows that it's only for precautionary reasons, but it's scary to think that this machine is helping her live. The thing that makes her heart rate pick up the most is how the nurses come into the room, they were huge hazmat suits, and Riley's in this enclosed cage type shield, it's horrifying. But the good news is that the regular check up nurse is April sexton, and Riley likes April, so that's okay.
               "Hey Riley?" April walked into the room.  Riley fluttered her heavy eyelids open to stare at the woman, "hi honey, how're you feeling?" April smiled through her shield.  Riley smiled back, "a little hot..." she spoke quietly.  April frowned, "is that all? Nothing else? No chest pains?" She checked Riley's old stats.  Riley shook her head slightly, "no that's it..." she spoke through a cough, "nice and easy..." April smiled weakly.  Once Riley had calmed down her heart beat monitor steadied out a bit, "good girl" April smiled sadly. Riley took a small deep breath and nodded as April poked her hand through the glove hole. She took the kids temperature without having to open up the tent and nodded at the results.
"Your temperature has gone up a little, but it's nothing too worrying sweetie. I'm gonna run a few more tests to see where we are and then you can rest up again okay?" April nodded. Riley smiled weakly, "okay..." she nodded. April smiled back before typing a few things into her iPad, a second nurse came in to help April take bloods and run other tests but other than that Riley was asleep for most of the day.
~~~~~~~~

Will looked up as Sharon Goodwin walked into the staff room, he stopped pacing and put his phone away, "anything?" He spoke hopefully. Sharon smiled weakly and signalled for him to take a seat, "she's still stable, April said she had a little bit of a fever this morning so they ran a few tests, but they're all normal so there's nothing to worry about. She's slowly getting better will" she smiled. Will let out a small yet unconscious sigh of relief, "good, that's good" he smiled weakly. Sharon smiled, "she's a fighter alright" she nodded. Will smiled back, she really is.

"And what did the chief say about me visiting?" He added. Sharon sighed heavily, "it's still a no I'm afraid" she shook her head. Will rubbed his face, "not even with a suit on?" He looked through hopeful eyes. Sharon shook his head, "it's too risky Will, not only for your safety but for Riley's too. The suits don't always protect you, and we don't know how Riley's gonna react if she sees you, it could make her heart rate spike then things could go downhill. She's having trouble breathing as it is Will, we don't wanna make it worse..." she squeezed his shoulder. Will paused before nodding, "okay...yeah sorry, I get it. What about FaceTime calls? Is she okay enough to talk now?" He added. Sharon let out a small chuckle.

"She can talk now, I'll talk to April later today and if she's awake I'll schedule a call for you and Jay" she nodded. Will smiled, "thanks Sharon, I appreciate it" he nodded thankfully. Sharon smiled, "now stop panicking and go save more lives" she tapped his leg before standing up. Will smiled and nodded before composing himself, they're finally getting to see her...

~~~~~~~~
                Jay opened up his front door to find Will stood there, "hey" he smiled and let him in.  The pair were a part of a 'bubble' now so they could be near each other without being told off, Will stepped inside and took off his jacket.  The pair made their way over to the couch as Will pulled out his iPad from work so they could FaceTime Riley.  Almost as if on queue Sharon Goodwins number ran making them sit up straight.
Will: "hey"
April: "hey, she's just woke up and she's a little tired but she wanted to see you both still"
Jay: "typical Riles"
April: "well here she is..."
Riley: "hi..."
Will: "hi honey, how're you doing?"
Riley: "better"
Jay: "we miss you"
Riley: "I wanna come home..."
Will: "I know riley I know, and you can come home when you're better"
Jay: "both of us are gonna be here when you're allowed home okay?"
Riley: "yeah, and can we have pizza too?"
Will: "is that all you've been thinking about?"
Riley: -small laugh-
Jay: "of course we can smelly"
After talking for about 20 minutes, patio could see Riley getting tired, and her heart rate monitor was slowing down which told her that the kid was ready to sleep again.
April: "sorry to break this up but she's getting tired..."
Will: "don't worry about it"
Jay: "we'll see you soon Riley"
Riley: "love you both..."
Will: "love you too small fry"
And with that's the call ended, jay looked at Will with a small smile, at least they both know she's okay now. It calmed their nerves...
