Yukiji of the bloody blade - A vampire Knight fanfic -

- Chapter VI: Survive -

Note: I apologise for the previous chapter, I fixed some issues and accidentally reposted it twice 😐 oops...

I will also be posting an extra chapter this week only be issue I am ahead with the drafting and proofreading of other chapters. This will not occur often because I do not want to rush in posting new chapters, I want to space them out and it also helps to give me time in drafting new ones too.

~ Yukiji's POV ~

When I realised what had just occurred I immediately turned to Zero who grasped his shoulder and his blood flowing into the water. Tension was in the air, I could see it on masters face. He was going to shoot Zero once more and before that could happen I rushed over to Zero hugging him so master could not have a clear shot.

"Why do you protect the very being you were trained to kill?"

"Zero maybe a vampire but I won't just sit by and allow you to kill someone I care for deeply!"

In spite of this Zero placed his hand on my shoulder and moved himself away from me saying that it was ok. The headmaster and Yuki came running in opposite directions, he looked angry and took masters gun while Yuki stood there looking worried. We both hopped out of the cold water and I walked away heading back to my room.

~ The next night ~

I didn't say anything to Yuki in regards to last night because I did not want to worry her but I also wanted some space. I noticed today that Zero wasn't in class so I began to worry and decided to confront master. Later that night when I found him walking I grabbed his attention and asked him where Zero was, all he told me was that Zero was somewhere he could keep an eye on but I wasn't satisfied with his answer and demanded he tell me where but master brushed me off. He walked into the nearby classroom but this did not stop me and so I waited by the door waiting for his class to end.

~ Later on ~

When master came out of the classroom he walked over to me and said to go to the headmasters guest room. I don't k ow why he changed his mind but I didn't care. I sprinted off and ran all the way and when I finally got there knocking on the door. I waited for Zero to open the door and when he did I forced my way through and asked him why he was staying here. Zero shrugged the question away, I took his hand and lead him into the bathroom when he asked me what I was doing.

"Let's continue...where we left off last night."

He looked at me with shock as I unbuttoned my jacket and slowly pushed him to the wall.

"In the end after thinking it through I decided that this was the best way to help you so please...drink my blood...it will make you feel better...even only for a little while..."

We sat down as he gave his reply.

"No, please Yukiji...I would never forgive myself..."

"Yeah...I know..."

Zero placed his hand on my back and moved my hair out of the way and the next thing I felt was pain along with blood running down my neck. It is sin to keep a vampire alive, by allowing him to devour my blood but I did not care...this was the very boy who accepted me into his family with open arms and no matter what I decided to protect him. Once he had his fill, Zero leaned back on the wall.

"This being I've become is despicable...even if I loath vampires I still can't help lusting for blood. Just give up on me Yukiji...you know just as well as I do that this is only a temporary measure...so please, before I acquire a taste for your blood."

"Just give up on you? I won't do that, if I were to leave you to die I could never forgive myself. I have decided to keep you alive no matter what...I don't care that in the end you'd come to hate me, you can hate me along with the vampires...but the one thing I won't let you do is give up on everything!"

"How could I ever hate you? Are you alright?"

Hearing Zero say that brought me joy.

"I'm fine, the wound will heal in a day so listen...I don't care how many times I'll have to tame the beast within you so please...don't give up on life so come back to school tomorrow...do it for me, do it for both of us."

~ Outside ~

Both of us understand and neither one was going to say anything...

I kept walking in spite of my remaining worries for Zero. I stopped in the middle of the pathway when Kaname's figure came into view, he then stopped in front of me.

"So what have you been up to this evening Yukiji?"

He extended his hand and touched the end of my hair. I was surprised, Kaname knows what Zero and I have done. I closed my eyes hoping for this to be all over soon when he hugged me suddenly.

"Why did you stop talking to me about everything Yukiji? I hope that what you are trying to protect doesn't end up hurting you."

Kaname ended the hug and continued on his way.

~ Next day in class ~

Kaname knows what I've been doing along with Yuki, my thoughts went back to that moment from last night with Zero and noticed he wasn't in class including the fact someone said that master was going to be late.

I'm so stupid! I shouldn't have left Zero all alone!

I got up from my seat and rushed to Zero's room, I burst open the door and saw both Zero and master as he was about to pull the trigger.

"No stop! Zero!"

Shots were fired but when I looked to Zero he had his hand on the barrel of the gun and it was to his side. Master turned to me and told me that if Zero were to go crazy again I must stop him, the last thing he said to Zero shook both of us to the core. The woman from four years ago was still alive...

I walked over to him placing my hands on his cheeks while crying.

"Zero...I honestly thought you were going to die...please don't ever scare me like that again."

He then told me to stop crying while he placed his hand on my head but couldn't help it, Zero promised that he would not run away anymore...I will never regret what I have decided for myself, not ever.
