LISA'S POV
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
What's that noise?
I started fidgeting around but was met with pain
Why am I sore?
I sat up slowly in my bed making sure I didn't cause any more pain and opened my eyes or more like one since one of my eyes was shut and covered with a patch
With my free eye, I looked around and saw nothing but uncomfortable blankets, white walls, cords hooked upon and in me, and heart monitors along with other machines
Am I in a hospital?
I have to pee
I tried getting up to use the bathroom which sucked, because of the pain, but I ignored it because I had to go bad
My struggle to get up caused the monitors to keep like crazy, while I was yanking some of the cords off me
I was now sitting up on my bed trying to stand but stopped when the door to my room swung open, and in came a nurse
She ran to me and laid me down. "You can't be up," she said. "You weren't even supposed to wake up in the first place" She added laying me back down again
"What are you talking about and I have to pee?"
She just sighed. "You're going to have to hold it and the doctor will explain everything to you when he gets here" she then pressed a button and sat in the room waiting for my doctor to get here
A few minutes later the doctor walked in followed by my mom and Chaeyoung and some other girl
"OH MY GOSH!" My mom yelled while running to me crying, but carefully hugged me
"We didn't think you would ever wake up?" My dad said slowly sitting next to me
"What are you talking about?" I asked feeling annoyed that I feel left out of my mysterious condition
The doctor sighed and looked at his clipboard
"Well one month ago we got a call from an older lady, who works in the supply store, saying a girl was beaten up pretty bad in the parking lot" I sat there confused
Why don't I remember?
"The medics came and contacted your parents soon after once you were at the hospital"
The doctor walked toward me and handed me pictures of me from the accident. "You were beaten pretty bad. You had to have 6 staples in your head where an open cut was, along with sixteen other stitches on your face. We also had to do some surgery inside your stomach when we found out there were open wounds and messed up intestines on the inside"
I took all the pictures looking at them
"And your eye...Well we were lucky to save it, as you can see how bad it looked" He added pointing to my eye patch
I put the pictures down and then looked back at the doctor. "Why don't I remember any of this?"
"We thought you were dead" My mom cried harder
"But thankfully, we revived you, but the downside was, that you were going to be in a comma. It's just that we estimated that you would be in a coma for more than a year or never wake up"
"I guess I got lucky," I said bluntly
Everyone laughed a bit. "Well we'll leave you alone with your family and friends" the doctor and the nurse walked out of the room shutting the door
It was complete silence, but Chaeyoung broke it
"The police said that you just got mugged, but the weird part is that they didn't take anything, except your keys, but not your car"
"So I still have my car?" I asked not caring about the other part
"Didn't you hear her? She said you were mugged" the other girl said with a concerned look
Who is she?
"I could care less. I mean I'm still alive, barely, but I have my car" everyone looked at me with gaping mouths
"By the way, who are you?" I asked, but the girl just sat there as her eyes widened, and started crying
"You don't r-remember me?" She asked. I shook my head. "Why should I?" I asked rudely
She got up and exited the room along with Chaeyoung
What a strange girl
Moments later the doctor came in and immediately checked my eyes
"I should've seen this earlier" he sighed while putting his flashlight back in his pocket. "Your daughter is suffering from memory loss. selective amnesia in other words"
"But by the sound of it she only lost certain memories in this part of the brain," he said pointing to my car. "And by the looks of it, it was along with her" he pointed to the girl I didn't know
"Will she get any better?" My mom asked worriedly
"That's the tricky part about selective amnesia patients, sometimes they get their memories back in less than a few weeks or days, but in her case, it could either come back at any time or never"
He then wrote something down on a piece of paper and handed it to my parents. "These are prescriptions, to help with her pain and mental health"
My mom took the paper, he then looked at everyone else giving them an assuring look and walked out
"Well it looks like you're clear to go in a week," my mom said trying to lighten the mood
"Great, that means I have to go back to school. That place sucks" I sighed
"We're gonna go," Chaeyoung said while standing at the door. "We'll come back tomorrow"
"Who's the girl next to you?" I asked in an unthinking tone
"Her name's Jennie. She's your best friend" Chaeyoung answered
"You've known each other since you were little" My mom smiled
Chaeyoung nodded in agreement. "Yeah and she's head over heels in love with you"
Someone else is in love with me? I thought Chaeyoung was the only one?
"She does know I'm with you?" I spat out looking at her
Chaeyoung looked at Jennie and then me. "She does...welp, see you tomorrow!"
I watched as Chaeyoung and that Jennie girl leave
Jennie, what a curious girl
"Okay honey, I think it's about time for us to leave too, so you can get some rest"
Are they kidding? I just woke up from a one-month coma
They gave me a hug, which they know I hate, and walked to the door to leave
"We love you" my mom smiled while she existed the door closing it
Love? That's another strange word. What is love? I should know what it is since I'm with Chaeyoung, but even with her, I feel like I'm still missing it
That reminds me of that Jennie girl, why does she love me? All this thinking is making me irritated, I guess I'll never experience it
I shrugged the thought off and grabbed the remote to watch TV. I began flipping through channels but found nothing. All they have are crappy shows on here. That sucks
