Ever since I was a kid I've always loved rainy days, especially thunderstorms. Today was an especially gloomy day and I was sitting at the window watching the rain, it was one of the very few things that actually made me happy, the rain was just so calming

I wanted to go outside and play in the rain but decided it would be best not to. I stood up and walked to the couch, plopping down right beside a grumpy Jeff, I turned the TV on and relaxed. Despite the TV being on, all I could focus on was the rain and all the fun times I had in the rain as a kid

My face was pressed against the cold, damp window, I watched as the raindrops hit the window and slowly ran down. My mom wrapped her arms around me with a huge smile "Wanna go play in it?" Her tone was soft and gentle as always. I looked up to her with a giant grin on my face, she laughed softly picking me up

"D/N! We're gonna go outside!" My mom called out to my dad "Alright, just be careful!" My dad replied from the kitchen. Me and my mom got dressed in warmer clothes and put on our raincoats, she opened the door and I immediately burst out jumping right into a big puddle with a giggle

I spun around with my arms out wide, facing the sky so I could feel the rain hit my face. My mom watched me with a smile, happy to see her child smiling for once

I hadn't realized I'd fallen asleep until I opened my eyes to see it was now dark out, I rubbed my eyes and sat up. Jeff was nowhere to be seen currently so I assumed he had left again. That got me thinking, where does he go off to? I quickly shut the thought out realizing I probably don't want to know the answer

I yawned as I got up from the couch, I walked to the kitchen and quickly grabbed some food before heading back to the couch to sit down. I looked out the window to see it was still raining, a small smile crossed my face and a soft giggle left my lips as I remembered some more memories of dancing in the rain

I finished my food and set the plate down, I picked my phone up from the table and texted F/N asking if they wanted to come over, they quickly replied "Sure" and I set my phone down looking back out the window

A few minutes later F/N arrived and I opened the door, they greeted me with a big hug before stepping in and setting their stuff down by the couch. We both plopped down on the couch with a sigh, F/N turned to me "Hey, why don't we go play in the rain?" I smiled "Took the words right out of my mouth!" We both hopped up and slipped our raincoats on before running outside and into the rain

We jumped in puddles and spun around in circles as the rain fell heavy against our bodies. I, for some reason, decided it was a good idea to take my raincoat off and dance in the rain like that, of course F/N decided to join me and we laughed together. My h/c hair was now dripping and my clothes were sticking to my body, I was shivering from how cold the rain was but my smile never faltered. F/N walked up to me and wrapped me in a hug, I wrapped my arms around their shoulders with a soft giggle

It had been a while since their presence brought me joy but it was finally coming back, I squeezed them, afraid if I let go they'd disappear. Suddenly tears started to well up in my eyes, F/N noticed and cupped my cheeks in their hands, I leaned into their touch, the tears now streaming down my face as I hung my head

They gave me a soft, sympathetic smile and rubbed my cheek with their thumb, I sniffled and wiped the tears from my eyes. We decided to go back inside and get warmed up, I went to the kitchen to make some hot chocolate and F/N went to the bathroom to take a shower, of course I let them borrow some clothes and put their's in the washer

As I was entering the kitchen I panicked when I saw Jeff, immediately forgetting about hot chocolate I started trying to get him outside. "Woah! Woah! Relax! What's your problem!?" He only continued to stand in place looking down at me, I just continued trying to push him out of the back door "You need to leave! You don't understand, if they see you they'll freak!" He grabbed me by my wrists with a sigh "Ok, ok.. Fuck" He stepped out and I sighed in relief quickly remembering I needed to make hot chocolate

I noticed Jeff watching me and glared at him before walking out to the living room with the two cups of hot chocolate, I set the cups down on the table as F/N stepped out into the living room, my shirt was a couple sizes too big for them making me chuckle before exiting to go take my shower

The warm water felt amazing against my skin, especially against my injured arm. I took my time washing myself, basking in the calming warmth. I finished and stepped out, I looked at myself in the mirror. For once my e/c eyes didn't look dull and lifeless, I smiled at that fact and fixed my h/c hair before I slipped into a black oversized hoodie and some comfortable shorts

I walked to the living room while stretching, letting out a content sigh. Finally things were good again, at least that's how I felt. I plopped down beside F/N and we chatted for hours about nothing specific, just random topics that would pop up in our heads. F/N looked like they wanted to say something but were hesitating, "Hey, you ok?" I tilted my head and poked their right cheek

They sighed, a soft pink tint crossing their cheeks "I think I- I think I like you" They lifted their head to look at me until we both jumped hearing a loud crash from the kitchen. F/N looked at me concerned while I just started panicking knowing what that sound was, or at least who made it
