Arising Suspicions

The rain had stopped this morning.

It was the next day, and nobody dared to say a word.

As Chloe sat down in class, she could feel the static tension in the room.

Miss Bustier hadn't even shown up.

As Lila and Alya walked in, everyone swiveled their heads towards them.

Nino shot a death glare at his "girlfriend". By the look Nino gave Alya, Chloe could tell what had happened after everyone had gone home.

They had broken up.

After the police arrived, they checked up on the situation, and said that they shouldn't make false accusations. Nino and Chloe had protested, saying it wasn't a false case, but the officers refused and left.

Chloe scowled at Alya.

She needed to find some evidence.

She would not be alone in her search, since that scene had convinced Rose, Juleka, and Max that those two were maniacs. Nino would be joining in too. Chloe looked over at them. Max nodded. They were ready to begin their plan.

They all got up at once, on cue, and left the room. Max turned on his computer. Juleka and Rose ran to the locker room. Chloe and Nino headed off towards Lila and Alya's house. Their goal was for Max to hack the school security system for access to the cameras. Rose and Juleka would search the locker rooms, and Nino would search Alya's house. Chloe would search Lila's.

Chloe neared the entranceway to the apartment. Max had sent her this address a couple minutes ago. She opened the door and climbed up the set of stairs. As she reached the Rossi's apartment, a woman greeted her.

"Hello, I'm Mrs. Rossi. Do you need anything?"

Her voice was gentle but monotone. Chloe faked a smile.

"Yeah, uh- me and Lila are partners for a project, and I volunteered to get some supplies from her house," she lied. Mrs. Rossi nodded and let her in. 

Meanwhile, Nino had just entered Alya's room. He peered under the bed. Nothing was there, except for lint and dust. 

Max had hacked the system. Juleka and Rose finished pick-pocketing the lock to Alya's locker. Chloe opened the door to Lila's closet. Nino looked behind a cabinet.

They all stopped in their tracks, despite being in different places, stunned.

Footage of Alya grabbing something long and sharp from her locker. 

A blood stained coat.

A diary.

The knife.

Juleka and Rose ran back to Max, mortified.

"I-Is Marinette really...dead?" Rose asked, eyes tearing up. Juleka muttered something under her breath. Max was silent, thoroughly searching for something else. His mouth dropped open as he opened up a file.

It was the file of some phone footage, titled "Evidence" from Lila's phone.

The file displayed Alya, assaulting Marinette. Rose looked like she was about to burst into tears. Juleka patted her on the shoulder. Max lowered his head, filled with grief.

"It seems so-"

"Wait!" Rose exclaimed, pointing at the laptop. A car had pulled up, scaring Alya off. The camera had cut off there.

"Isn't that Adrien's limo?" Max questioned, surprised. Without hesitation, he sent the files over to Chloe, followed by text asking if it was Adrien's car. Chloe immediately called.
