Luke's POV

Never in a million years did I think Ozzie Blake would be asking me to be her boyfriend. What is this twisted fate? Not that I'm complaining or anything, but that boggles my mind.

"What are we doing today?" I ask the group as Ozzie sits next to Jude. We agreed it would be easier to just keep our relationship a secret for now, so we're trying not to be all touchy-feely.

"I'm hanging out with Sunny."

"I was planning on running some errands... unless you guys want to come to those I say we just chill on our own."

I'm translating this as another alone day with Ozzie. I see her look at me but don't dare make eye contact.

"Alright, then I guess I'll see you guys later at the bonfire?" I say as Ozzie stands with me.

"You sure will. 9 pm sharp."

Ah, the annual bonfire. The entire town goes there, and it usually ends up with the cops being called, but it's fun while it lasts. The four of us usually end up running off the beach as soon as the cops pull up just for kicks and giggles.

It's also known for its hookups though. Last year, everyone in the group got laid right there on the beach. Some of us went skinny dipping and some went to the bay, but it happened.

What are Ozzie and I supposed to do? The guys expect us to hook up with someone, and we obviously can't do that. We only want each other, and I hope the glances I throw at her don't give away the fact that I'm in a relationship with her. And ah! What are we supposed to say when someone tries to get with us? "Oh sorry, just not feeling it"? No teenager has ever said that at the bonfire!

"What are you thinking about?" Ozzie asks me quietly as she sits on the kitchen counter and I stand in between her legs.

"The bonfire."

"Ugh. Me too. Can we just stay in tonight?" she groans.

"It's the bonfire, Oz. We only have two more left before we go to college, and this is one of them. We have to go."

"If a girl tries to hook up with you—"

"I'll stop it."

"I was gonna say you should just let it happen, Luke."

"What?" I practically gasp out.

"I'm not ready to tell Jude and Dane; you're not ready to tell Jude and Dane. Word travels fast around here. It's obvious if neither of us hook up with people or reject them that we're together."

"So you want me to cheat on you?"

"Hell no! But if you have to you can."

"I'm not having this conversation, Ozzie. Neither of us are going to be with other people tonight. I don't want to be with anyone but you. Understand?" I slightly raise my voice at her.

"And I don't want anyone but you."

"If we get caught, we'll play it off like you and Jude did. Okay?"

"Okay."

She looks distracted. Almost... distant. She wobbles back and forth on her feet and I steady her by putting both of my hands on her cheeks.

"Hey, look at me," I whisper, and she looks into my eyes. She has such pretty eyes. I always love how I can see the brown specks in her green eyes. "We're gonna be fine."

"Promise?"

"Promise." I kiss the tip of her nose before she pulls me in for a real kiss on the lips.

"I love you," she whispers as she pulls me closer to her. My hip bone crushes against the counter. Ouch.

"I love you too. Now let's go get ready for this thing!"
