I took his hand as we rounded to the other side of the tree.

"Just follow my lead, I promise I'll keep you safe." Tech said as I felt his grasp leave mine.

He started climbing up the tree. His movements were quick and precise, as if he had done this a million times.

I took a breath, trying to encourage myself to start climbing.

You see, heights aren't that big of a problem for me. Tall buildings and airplanes aren't tantalizing for me, because there's at least a little bit of safety. With the reinforced concrete keeping the building from collapsing in on itself or the titanium walls of a plane speeding us to any place in the world. There's a sort of comfort in the fact that professionals who spent years training for this exact thing were the ones who crafted them. They were literally built to survive in the sky.. However, this wasn't anywhere near any of that. This was a giant tree where the only thing keeping me from getting hurt was myself.

I'm pretty smart when it comes to life. Am I a scholar level scientist who could solve world hunger with the snap of my fingers? No. Am I some mathematician who can solve any equation in the world? Also no. Hell I can't tell you how to divide a fucking fraction at this point. But none of that is relevant.

I am smart in ways such as not getting myself into situations in which I could get hurt. This is a prime example of a situation I would generally avoid. I'm not confident in my climbing abilities. I can barely climb stairs. But somehow I'm now debating it because some pretty boy I just met promised to keep me safe. I would have laughed at myself but for some ungodly reason, I believed him. Have you seen this man. Crafted by the damn gods and for what fucking reason.

"Are you coming or are you just gonna keep staring at my ass?" Tech jokingly questioned as he neared the top of the tree.

I quickly jumped out of my thoughts as I realized I was indeed staring at him climbing.

"I don't know, I kinda like it down here." I teased while winking at him.

He quickly turned his head and sighed.

"Hurry up nerd."

I laughed and started my ascend.

My thoughts were racing at a million miles a second. You got this, you can do this, just don't fall, don't look down, don't lose your grip, don't go too fast, don't go too slow, make sure your grip is tight, make sure your foot is in the right place, don't close your eyes, wait close your eyes, this is terrifying, we should get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get down, get-

"Everything okay?" Tech spoke in a worried tone.

I opened my eyes and realized I was breathing heavier than normal. I looked up to Tech to see him with a concerned look on his face.

"Yeah, yeah I'm okay." I said hoping he would buy the lie.

He only nodded his head and watched as I carefully made my way the rest of the way up.

As I reached where Tech was, he scooted back slightly leaving enough room for me to fit. He held out his hand with a grin on his face.

"Are you ready to have your life changed forever?" Tech said as he guided me up to where he was.

We were in a position where our backs were pressed against branches and our knees were touching.

"Oh I wasn't aware this was a life changing experience." I laughed.

"Once you see this view, nothing in the world could ever beat it."

I laughed again at his excitement as he turned his body to the right. I quickly followed suit, not really having a choice since we were still holding hands.
