A musical master,
the pianist's composer,
he who could sing
through fingers and struck strings.
For his cantabile melodies—
the inspiration of many envies—
are flowing, wordless songs
fuelled by passions oh-so strong!

Each of his compositions
carry deep and resonant sentiments.
He truly was a brilliant musician;
he could make dissonance pleasant!
His music needs not many hours
to reach your heart (and pierce it too).
How could one learn this power
to compose only fine art (genius, I tell you)!

Even his minute-long mazurkas
weave melodies mightily potent;
how much more sonatas?
Thirty minutes of musical heaven!

And who could ignore his noteworthy nocturnes
that embody the song and soul of night?
Their place in repertoire was rightly earned;
their harmonies are shimmering moonlight!
Yet, the nocturne is not the only form
which he had elevated to new heights.

Unlike preludes composed before,
his stand well on their own.
Within each fragment resides a core:
an idea; raw emotion.

His études are more than mere exercises
to train and fine-tune the fingers;
they are timeless masterpieces
that've made the stages of countless concerts!

He had also crafted a new form of art:
the ballade written without words.
Mercurial, intricate—where does one start?
It is unlike anything one has heard!

Alas, his figure was just as frail
as compelling as his music is.
A pity how consumption ailed
and later ended that life of his.

Though brief was the life of Frédéric Chopin
his legacy is far from so!
Through his music, his soul lives on
as the poet of the piano.
