Personality: Atsuya is a mysterious boy who is often insecure about his gender identity. He is also shy when it comes to meeting new people, especially if they are male. He always felt that his life is set in stone for him by his parents, mainly his mother, ever since he was born. But after spending time in Nanaki, Atsuya finally becomes confident of his true gender (male ♂️) and assertive. He also becomes more open to his friends, especially Mitsumune, Masaki, and Hayato.

Family: Haruna (mother, deceased), Junichiro (father), Ayaka (paternal aunt), Takumi (paternal uncle), Chiaki (cousin)

History: Atsuya was born to Haruna and Junichiro. Haruna despises the name Atsuya, as it was given to him by Junichiro, and demands that he never mentions that name in her presence, preferring to call her son 'Atsuko' instead. Due to her hate for the name and its relation to Junichiro, it can be assumed that he is close with his father and not with his mother. As if forced to wear clothes is bad enough, he is even forced to be friends with girls since his mother thought that a real girl would never be friends with boys.

Being raised as a girl and heavily tormented by his insane mother, Atsuya's social life, as well as his emotional and mental stability began to derail as he became conflicted on about his gender identity and his future. It didn't even help matters that his father often works overtime and comes home late. During his first year in high school, his father started working abroad for financial reasons and his mother died from cancer. Atsuya thought that he will be free from her influence, but it is so strong that he continues to 'appease' her spirit. His aunt Ayaka and uncle Takumi, who became his guardians until Junichirou's return, decided to help him and thought that the tour to Mayoiga would help him break free of his mother's influence.

Reason to be on this tour: per his guardian's request, to break the chains binding him to obey his mother's whims.
