i've got scars that run
perpendicular to each other
so when one pulls this way
the other aches a little
and when i lean to one side
to ease up on the pain
the other rips right open again
he knows i'm bad at healing
and i keep waiting on him
to prescribe me wisdom or miracles
but he sits and holds me
and tells me he understands
and has scars of his own
so it's okay to feel angry at the world
because there's something
i need to do about it
and he looks up to me
because he knows
i'll stop at nothing
to get it done
