I love the Durin boys, so couldn't help but bring the two young princes into this story. I hope that you enjoy.

"Er..........your.........your Majesty. I...........I.........." (Y/n) managed to say, as she looked into the deep eyes of the king. (Y/n) noticing that despite the fact that Erebor was once more the home of the Durin folk. That despite the fact that Thorin had taken his rightful place as the King under the Mountain. There was still that same sadness in his eyes that there had been when she had seen him in Gunri's forge in the Blue Mountains. And (Y/n) couldn't help but wonder, what in Middle-earth could make the dwarf still appear so sad. Surly he must have everything that he wanted now? And the more dwarves that made their way back to the mountain, the more it would be filled with life, and return to how it had been before they had had to leave. Then, the right lady would come into his life, and the kingdom would be able to celebrate a marriage. Then, probably, the birth of an heir. So, the idea that the new king could still appear so lost, made her heart break a little.

"Please forgive me." (Y/n) added, as she finally realised that she should be paying the proper respect. Her eyes finally leaving the monarchs, as she bowed low.

That voice. Oh, that voice. Thorin had never heard it before. But now that he had, he knew that he wanted to hear it every day, for the rest of his days. He wanted to hear it call out his name. To have it say that it loved him. Wanted it to fill his ears with loving words, as he drifted off to sleep. Yet it wasn't just the voice that was making his heart beat rapidly in his chest. Now that she was stood before him, he realised just how truly beautiful this mortal apprentice really was. He had only actually ever seen her in the shadows in the back of the forge, yet he had still fallen in love. So now, now as she bowed before him. The flicker of the torch light, gently kissing her delicate features. Thorin knew that he was totally lost. And that he would give all the gold, all the jewels, and even the Arkenstone, for (Y/n) to feel for him, as he already felt for her.

"Please, mistress (Y/n). There is no need for such ceremony." Thorin finally managed to say, as he held out his hand for (Y/n) to take. The young apprentice hesitating, before slipping her palm into his. Thorin helping her up, so that he could once again take in the beauty before him.

"I have come to pay my respects. Master Gunri was a great dwarf, and an even greater blacksmith. He spoke of you so much. Not only while he was here, but also while we were in the Blue Mountains. I know that he was exceptionally proud of you, and your abilities. And I look forward to watching you work." Thorin explained. (Y/n) sure that for a moment, she had forgotten how to breath, as he continued to hold her hand, and look deep into her eyes.

Oh, that voice! It was true that (Y/n) had heard it before. But now, now it sounded even smoother, warmer, sweeter. Like warm honey drizzled over freshly baked bread. And (Y/n) couldn't help but get lost in that low, deep, seductive growl that seemed to emit from the king, every time that he spoke. The sound almost intoxicating. Addictive. The apprentice knowing that she would give anything that she had, even Gunri's favourite hammer, to hear the handsome, dark haired dwarf, whisper words of love into her ear.

"Thank you, your Majesty. Master Gunri would have appreciated your kind words. I know that he wasn't the most sentimental of dwarves, but I am sure that coming from you, it would have meant a lot." (Y/n) replied. A blush creeping up to her cheeks, as Thorin actually smiled.

"I............." Thorin began. He next words cut off as the voices of two dwarves rang out through the corridors. (Y/n) staring at the door, as she heard her name called. Her eyes growing wide, as in through the ingress suddenly tumbled two males. The blonde and brunette fighting to be the first to see their friend.

"(Y/N)!" The two princes exclaimed in unison. The mortal apprentice and the siblings falling to a heap on the floor, as they bumped into her. (Y/n) not sure where Fili ended, or Kili started.

"We heard you had got here." Kili told her, as he wrapped his arms around his friend.

"Yes! And why didn't you come to see us first?" The older dwarf demanded to know. Doing his best to sound annoyed, but giving up, as he realised that he would much rather be hugging (Y/n), than reprimanding her.

The two brothers had always seen the young mortal as sort of the sister that they had never had. Their mother, seeming to care for (Y/n) as much as her sons did. Fili and Kili always enjoying it when (Y/n) was allowed out of the forge, so that she could make her way to their home. Dis always making sure that there was more than enough food to, as she put it, feed (Y/n) up. The mortal girl, in Dis' mind, far too thin to attract a suitable dwarf when the time came for her to marry. So now, after not seeing her since they had begun the quest, the two brothers felt as though the sight of (Y/n) must be the best thing in the world.

"Ahem." A slightly annoyed cough came, before (Y/n) could say anything in reply to the rambunctious duo. The still prone trio looking up to see Thorin glaring down at them. Fili and Kili jumping to their feet before helping (Y/n) from the floor.

"Sorry uncle. We didn't know that you were here. We just.......just.........."

"Just wanted to see (Y/n)." Kili interrupted. Fili glaring at his brother, before the pair pushed the mortal apprentice back in front of their uncle.

"It would appear that you three have much to catch up on. So, I will leave you to it. But perhaps........perhaps you would join me for dinner later this evening. We have much to discuss about you becoming a master blacksmith, mistress (Y/n)." Thorin said. His tone once again soft, as he looked at (Y/n)'s face.

"M-m-me? Eat with you? I.........I couldn't. I am just a smith. I.............."

"Don't worry uncle. (Y/n) would love to have dinner with you." Kili, interjected. Smiling broadly, as (Y/n) looked at him in disbelief.

"Yes! She will be there." Fili agreed. (Y/n) turning her disbelieving gaze to the blonde dwarf, as he agreed with his brother.

"Excellent. Then, until this evening, mistress (Y/n)." Thorin replied. Another small smile spreading across his lips, before he turned and made his way out of the forge, with Balin in tow. The king leaving (Y/n) and his nephews, to their reunion. Thorin hoping that tonight, Fili and Kili would allow him to enjoy his own reunion with the beautiful apprentice.
