"So this was just a game to you?" you asked, breath heavy staring at the boy in front of you. Regulus stood tall, he always did, shaking his head trying to come up with what you guessed was another lie.

"No I—"

"Stop!" you hissed, digging your nails into the palm of your hand hoping to stop the hot tears that threatened to fall. "You could have just asked me. Asked me to pretend to be your girlfriend to get them off your back— anything! The worst I would have done was say no."

"You don't understand—"

"—don't I?" you said, a dry laugh leaving your lips. "You pretended to be interested in me, took me out on all these dates, went out of your way to make me feel special, said things... Tell me, was it all a sham? Those tears.. Those letters you wrote me? Did you laugh behind my back after meeting me? Oh foolish—"

"Please just listen to me," he pleaded, his eyes misty making your walls lower if only a little. You had seen him cry exactly once, he hadn't planned on it, you had stumbled on it in his room. Something about his eyes told you he was being sincere. "Yes, it was fake at first. But not anymore! Hasn't been for a long time, you have to trust me. I like you, I really really like you and decided not to tell you the truth because I thought you would react the way you are."

"How am I supposed to react?" you said through gritted teeth. Your heart beat rapidly against your chest, it felt like you could burst any moment. Regulus shook his head coming closer to you, placing his hands on either of your arms.

"I'm sorry, I'm very sorry but give me another chance, just one— let me make it up to you."

Regulus moved to hug you, but you couldn't see anything above the anger in your head. It was space that you needed. Feeling his arms around you, you were unable to stop yourself flinching after a moment. You pulled back harshly, face cold.

"How could you ask that of me? I'm sorry Regulus," you said, shaking your head. "I'm sorry but I can't keep on in a relationship which was based on lies."

The room felt suffocating, you weren't able to stand there anymore. Turning, you stalked out, closing the door behind you leaving the boy in a surge of regret and sadness.
