Ch. 11

Kakashi's pov.

It had been nearly 3 months since I had started my mission to watch Naruto. Naruto, however, was 6 months old, and growing rapidly. He was so much further along then when I first met him.

'Such a determined little brat.'

He yawned while I did the dishes. He's less
annoying now, but I still wonder when
exactly my mission will be complete, so I
can get back to fulfilling my purpose. If I even have one, that is.

I should pay Sarutobi sensei a visit sometime. See if I can get this problem child out of my hair. Literally and figuratively.

It was quiet at my house. Not as quiet as when I lived alone, but it was a mutual, comfortable quiet, one of peace, and serenity. I dried a plate thoughtfully.

I wonder what Gai is up to these days...I haven't seen him in a while. Not that I care. It's kind of odd actually. Normally, he'd be butting into my business almost constantly, but now that I think about it, he's been rather scare as of late; he must be on a real good mission to let me have peace for this long.

Genma and Esibu pov.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"You seen Gai lately?" Esibu asked curiously, while trying not to seem to interested.

"He was supposed to meet with sensei yesterday, but he was a no show. I overheard some conversations." Genma admitted sheepishly.

"Well. . .do you know what's up with him? He just seems kinda down." Esibu asked.

"You don't say?" Genma added.

"No need to bring the attitude, I'm just wondering what's up, that's all." Ebisu scolded.

"No, I have no idea. He's never been like this before." Genma admitted.

"I say we leave it up to sensei's discretion. If he sees his attitude as an issue, I'm sure he'll deal with Gai accordingly. There's no need for us to even get involved." Esibu stated matter of factly.

"If you say so..." Genma shrugged.

"Hey, I'm just saying it's not really any of our business, that's all." Esibu clarified.

"I dunno, seems to me like we should at least try to do something. He is our teammate after all." Genma said casually.

"Anyways, isn't he supposed to be here soon? We have a mission in a few hours." Esibu mentioned.

"Yeah, you're right. If he's not here soon, we can go get sensei." Genma agreed.

A few moments later. . .

Gai could be seen in the distance, slowly but surely approaching the meeting place, previously arranged several days before. Both his hands were in his pockets, and he had a bit of a glum look to his face.
