Jace carefully stretched his long body. He glanced down at Ali who was happily snoring in his arms. He hadn't gotten up the entire flight because this was the first time he had seen her not sick and panicking on an airplane. Of course he'd like to think he played some part in her comfort but, it was probably the massive amount of medication and ginger ale she had consumed.
Olivia walked past their private room and tapped on the door. "Forty-five minutes until we land. There will be a handful of guards but hopefully we don't need to use them."
Jace just nodded, trying to keep his cool in front of Olivia. When she finally walked away he let out a long breath and pinched the bridge of his nose. He could remember a few times in his childhood that he was genuinely scared. Some of those memories involved fish and snakes. All those slimy, scaly creatures freaked him out. However, Jace had never been so terrified in his life than he was at this exact moment
It took him traveling to the United States and taking a chance on a hardened military girl to find his mate. It was something he definitely wasn't looking for but, now that he had her there was no way he could exist without her. In every way imaginable he belonged to her and that scared him. If something happened he would never be able to forgive himself. How could he tell her that though without pushing her away? Only time would tell.
Ali shot up as soon as the plane started to descend. She looked around frantically until her eyes fell on the trashcan.
"Give that to me!" she said, her face turning white and then transforming into a nice shade of green.
Jace moved her into one of the chairs and grabbed the trashcan for her. He held it in front of her just as she started gagging.
"Do you need anything?" asked Jace.
"Just for you to look the other way," she answered.
He smiled and turned to face the window. The small city they were landing in was almost impossible to see. Unlike the U.S., there were barely any lights. The brightest area was the airport and even that was barely visible. It wasn't until they were almost on the ground that Jace spotted the orange and red lights.
"Almost there," he said.
Ali grunted loudly before burying her head back into the trashcan. The medicine she took prevented her from throwing up which was probably worse than just being plain old sick. If she couldn't throw up then she couldn't feel better.
"I hate flying," groaned Ali.
"I had no idea."
She shot Jace a death glare before putting the trashcan down and ducking her head between her legs. Just as she did that the plane hit the ground. It bounced a few times before skidding loudly and coming to a complete stop.
