The following morning, Springfield wakes up to the news about the likely cause of the red skies. Many areas are seeing an increase in sales, following the announcement of the state of emergency. Of course, many lessons and reviews were needed for some just in case they'll need some reinforcements. Not aware of the Rigellians are seeking to join forces, the residents of Springfield tried to go about their day.
At the Legitimate Businessman's Social Club
"Okay, I just got off the phone with Tony. Now, we can use firearms, as he knows how to trick the mayor into thinking we're a militia," Johnny Tightlips explained.
"What for, he's a regular," Legs said.
"He can get us access to the military-grade weapons," Lousie said.
"Yeah, they have that makes those police look like sissies," Johnny Tightlips said.
"Now that's what I call an upgrade," Legs said.
"Yeah, I hope they got that BFG," Frankie The Squealer said.
The room goes silent.
"What," Frankie The Squealer said.
"Why do we have to have him?" Legs ask.
"If that scouser is taken prisoner, I got an idea for a trade," Lousie said.
"What," Frankie The Squealer said.
"Shut up," Johnny Tightlips said.
At the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant
"Okay, Mr. Burns, I got the list of the types of warfare we can go through. I'm not having much luck on recruiting our defenders," Smithers said.
"We'll just get any poor sap. What kind of warfare suits our style?" Burns asks.
Smithers presents a projector and screen to show off.
"Well, the first ones were mostly ground base, but aerial attacks tend to have a larger output. It was one of the reasons why the Little Boy and Fat Man were bad news because they were both airbursts. Ground bursts would've absorbed the pressure wave. On the flip side, it was easier to clean up the radiation aftermath." Smithers said.
"Even that or that storm weeks later," Burns replied.
"It also gave them the nickname, clean bombs," Smithers said.
"What was all this talk about the dirty bombs?" Burns asks.
"It's often made with conventional explosives and a radiation source. For example, using cesium-137 could be used with a pipe bomb. It's more to do with contamination, rather than ones in fission bombs, which produce a huge enough sound wave... it doesn't allow the radiation to gather up." Smithers said.
"Genius, do we have any items that were used?" Burns asks.
"We do have plutonium, it was what the Fat Man bomb had," Smithers said.
"Any drawbacks," Burns asks.
"I'm afraid there are a lot. Though it was accidental, the cesium-137 was one example of what not to do with radiation waste. Once in Brazi, a child got more than a lethal about in her system. Many medical staff members were too scared to get near and had to wear HAZMAT to treat her. She sadly died of the effects and caused a riot during her burial." Smithers said.
"What else were they going to? You know cremation requires a decent incinerator with a dangerous amount of heat. Even then, there's still some amount. Never thought I feel bad for any family losing a child in such an awful way, but I felt sorry for those souls. If you're going to blame someone, condemned the idiots who weren't paying attention." Burns said.
