Morning begins as dawn departs and the rising sun now reigns the sky.
Trees shine even as the sunrays beam on them. The water of the river glistens under sunlight, the little gaps in the canopy of the forest paving the way for you.
Apprehension had taken over you when last night you were stopped by those two guards. Escaping Changwon was more important than anything else in that moment. If, by any chance, the guards felt a decoy in action, it would have led to another arrest. And this one would result in a definitive execution.
You were lucky that the guards were under the influence the previous night. Their words slurred slightly; they were uninterested in interrogating the scene as well. Yureum's improvisation in the moment was a bit of a surprise too, she wasn't the kind to play it off so well. However, you were now out of that hellhole and getting back home as soon as possible was the only concern.
Jimin and Jungkook stop the horses for a break. You're tired, all of you. For the past month and a half, neither of you received any nutrition, there was no sufficient water, and your lives were at God's mercy.
You climb down your horses and stride over to the stream. Yureum and you find two big rocks to sit on. You dip your feet in the stream. The cool water crashes against your skin, the feeling soothing you. It reminds of you the times Yureum and you would sit by the lake together — talking about life accompanied by a fair share of gossip.
Jimin and Jungkook tear off the disguise they had put on, contemptibly tossing away the uneasy Changwon fabric. They take their shirts off and hang them by the branches. They squat by the stream, washing their arms, torso and face. Once done, they use their now discarded disguise and wipe themselves.
You catch Yureum ogling at Jungkook. A frisky smirk on your face, you tease, "Shall Jimin and I go somewhere else? You know, give you some privacy?"
Yureum looks at you, jaded. "Nice joke."
"I am hilarious, I know," you continue, earning a chuckle out of her. Swaying your feet to and fro in the water, you both sit in silence watching the small ripples form against consistent flow.
"Funny, isn't it? Water?" Yureum says. "You could put a mountain in its way, and it will still cut through it. No matter how long it takes."
You understand the implication behind her words. "Where are you taking this, Yureum?" You ask, urging your sister to elaborate further.
"The real question is: where is the universe taking us?" Yureum looks up from the stream to face you. You frown and she chuckles softly before elucidating, "We're all made of nature's elements. Fire brings rage and passion. Air brings free spirit, calm, wondrousness. Earth brings nurturing and care. Water teaches you to go on despite all struggles. All of them abide because the world cannot function without them. So, where is the world asking you to go, Y/n? Which element do you need to connect with at the moment? What do you need — fire's passion, air's spirit, earth's nature or water's persistence?"
