Missing them

Lena's: POV
Stef and the girls left a few hours ago
For their trip to Los Angeles. to see the Boston Celtics basketball game,
It's just me mom and Jalen who l just finished giving a bath to. My mother's downstairs getting dinner sorted out
While l'm upstairs feeding Jalen
I miss my wife and daughters, their coming home on Sunday afternoon
I look down at my little boy who's drifting off to sleep in my arms.
My father's on another business trip
This is the third one this month he's going on, l'm only going by what my mom tells me. I go lay Jalen in the bassinet and head down the steps carrying the baby monitor in my hand, l see my mom setting the table
Mommy what are making Lena asks Dana. Oh l baked some pink salmon asparagus and red potatoes she says to me, sounds good Lena replies as she opens the refrigerator to get the pitcher of lemonade and sat down on the table. Then Lena takes out the forks and knives, from the kitchen drawer. Lena takes a seat while Dana brings filled with fish in one hand and the other she's has asparagus in a serving dish, Lena takes too pieces of salmon and a spoon full of vegetables
Dana knows how much her daughter enjoys eating healthy meals. She's looking forward to them  spending some much needed time with her daughter and new grandson. Lena begins to dig in her delicious meal
Lena always enjoyed her mother's cooking, now Lena has her own family. She likes preparing dinner for

About leaving their abusive husbands
Boyfriends. But they ended going back, sometimes I feel helpless
Dana tells Lena. Mommy it's not that simple for them to leave their partners, maybe they feel they have no way out. We really don't know the circumstances, l speak to over thirty women on the crisis hotline tell me
They are afraid of the men who beat them or sexually assault them some stay for the sake of the kids and others think these guys will change
I just hope where doing enough to help these women get out there situation. Mommy you've been doing this for twenty-two years, you already impacted into so many people's lives please don't doubt all the hard work make you feel powerless. We have done so much already like the women's home is doing well, l'm glad you asked me to come onboard and partner along side you, working at the University and teaching psychology was good and all but l enjoy being here when Amelia and Malia get home from school.
