Mac saw Riley lower his head while Russ bragged about how thanks to him today's mission had gone well and Bozer protested saying it was not true
After everything happened with the nanobots, Riley had been a bit strange but Mac does not understand why, his head made him think about many things but at the end of the day he could not find an answer
She always tried to get away from him, when she looked into her eyes she only saw sadness, they no longer went to the game room together and she spent more time with Bozer than anyone else
He wanted to go to her and ask what was wrong but to be honest he was also very busy with the Phoenix stuff and was trying to make things with Desi work out now that they lived together
He snapped out of his thoughts when Desi laughed at one of Bozer's jokes and then leaned into him, instinctively wrapping his arms around her and his heart clenching in his chest when he saw Riley's expression change, as if she had been injured
She immediately got up from her place and told everyone that she would leave using the excuse of being very sleepy.
He wanted to get up and go after her, but what was he going to say to her?
Before his mind could formulate anything she was already gone, he heard her start the car and drive off

Mac rolled over and over on the bed unable to sleep or close his eyes, his mind just replaying every moment he spent with Riley these past weeks
He wanted to understand, he wanted to know, he wanted to know what was going on, but what if the reason she acted like this was because of him?
"Go see her Mac" Mac heard her voice next to him
"what?" he asked without understanding well
"Go with Riley" Desi got out of bed and sat down to see him "I know she's sad, you must go, she needs you"
Mac just nodded before getting out of bed to get dressed.

He stopped in front of the door and took a deep breath, he had planned to knock on the door but that idea was gone the moment he heard a slight sob from inside the apartment
Not having a key he used his trusty knife to open the door, when he opened it he quietly entered and walked through the hall to Riley's room.
What he saw upon entering the room was an image that broke his heart into a thousand pieces
Riley was sitting on her bed, hugging her legs and her head resting on her knee as she cried
He walked over to her quickly and gently touched her knee, she immediately pulled away from him as if his touch burned her.
"What are you doing here?" she asked
"I was worried about you and had to come see you" said Mac
"I'm fine" she said wiping her tears
"You can't say you're okay Riley, you were crying, you know you can tell me why" said Mac sitting on the bed to get closer
Riley shook her head and forced a smile.
"You are the reason Mac" Riley snapped
Mac looked at her astonished, now everything made sense, he had been a fool again and he was hurting her and he again he was again to all of it
"I ... Riley I'm really sorry" Mac said
This time Riley walked up to him
"Mac, you don't have to apologize, you're not to blame for anything" she said
"But if only I had known ..." she stopped when Riley's hand reached her cheek.
"Even if you knew it, you can't do anything and the truth doesn't matter."
"Riles ..." he whispered but she wouldn't let him speak.
"Please go, just go Mac," he said with a broken voice
He looked into her eyes, he didn't want to leave her, he didn't want to leave, but Mac shouldn't stay.
"I'm fine" she assured him with a smile
He knew it was a lie because she was not well, anyway he stood up and walked to the door
Just when he closed it he heard her say in a whisper "I'm not fine"
That was enough to break it and he again opened the door and walked towards her and hugged her tightly
He didn't want to hurt her and he wouldn't hurt him anymore, he was going to fix this
