(1995)

There was a drowsy silence over the large, square houses as the hottest day of the year drew to a close.

As a result of the drought, cars that were typically gleaming in their driveways lay dusty and lawns that were once lush and green began to turn yellow. Hoses and brooms had been forbidden to be used due to the dry conditions.

Instead of participating in their usual lawn-mowing and car-washing chores, they flung open their windows in an attempt to catch a glimpse of a nonexistent breeze.

In a house, there was a girl who had (y/c/h), which was shorter or longer than the last year. A baggy tee-shirt emblazoned with the Queen logo was worn with shorts. Theodore lay next to her, he was also growing, his hair becoming browner and longer, with a birthmark on his right cheek. The pale boy also appeared to be asleep, tangled up in the bedsheets with Y/n.

Both of them were woken by a bang coming from the kitchen, which caused them to remain in the same position.

"Your father," Y/n muttered into the pillow. Even in the early hours of the morning, it would not be surprising to see Theodore's father intoxicated. Taking the covers off of his body, Theo sighs before getting up and walking out of his bedroom.

Y/n sighed, shifting away from the covers from her neck and sitting up, she realized it was about the afternoon. She had wanted to stay at Grimmauld Place, but she and Sirius got into an argument the day after she moved in.

"Kreacher!" Sirius yelled, walking into the house causing Y/n to roll her eyes.

"Kreacher doesn't take orders from blood traitors..." The house-elf said, sternly before walking away back up the steps.

"Git..." Sirius murmured.

"You left what do you expect?" Y/n asked mutely, reluctant to follow Sirius up the stairs.

"I wonder why I left?"

"You left Regulus!" Y/n shouted, stopping her movement and looking at him in disbelief.

"I had no control over him leaving!" Sirius responded. "I don't want anything to do with him..."

"You left him! Your own brother!" Y/n had kept repeating that argument back and forth in her head since she arrived at Theo's house.

She walked with her hands in her pockets and her bag hanging off of her shoulder as the sky was dark with only a few stars visible.

She kept looking down at the broken cobblestone before turning around to see Theodore's house - it looked like a normal muggle house. A couple of seconds later, Theodore opened the door after she knocked on it.

"Argument already..." Y/n announced shaking her hands back and forth. Theo nodded and opened the door a little more, allowing her to walk in.

As she sat in his bed, her arms were wrapped around her legs. She could hear yelling downstairs, but she was unable to discern what they were shouting about before Theodore walked back into the room and asked, "Wanna go for a walk? I have been feeling calm lately..." Theodore nodded, looking at her.

Y/n and Theodore both put a jumper over their shirts after getting properly dressed. After getting past Theodore's drunken father, who was sleeping on the couch, both of them began walking, on broken cobblestones.

"I don't know, he's just a git" Theo muttered with a sigh with his hands into his pocket. "All he does is drink, go to bars, and sleep around...and expects me not to want to be around mother at all times."
