( season 1, episode 2 : hell )

Jiwon was rather annoyed. After the voting, she'd been taken to some sort of room where she was blindfolded, stripped of her clothes and tied up.

She was then shoved into a vehicle and sent away, unable to see anything.

The journey was rather long, and by the time she was thrown out of the transportation, her legs aches from being in one position so long.

Jiwon grunted as she hit the ground, and a bag was thrown out behind her, as well as another person, apparently.

The other person, a girl, started to panic and shout, thrashing around. Jiwon rolled her eyes.

" Hey, will you stop?" She asked, hearing the girl shuffle around behind her.

" What? Who's that? Who are you?" Jiwon reached one of her tied hands just far enough to pull the girls blindfold off.

" Panicking isn't gonna get us out of these ropes, is it? Untie me. You help me, I help you." Jiwon compromised, and the girl used her teeth to untie Jiwon's hands.

She quickly sat up and pulled her blindfold off, untying her feet before moving to untie the girl. Jiwon moved away as soon as she was done, pulling her clothes out of her bag and changing.

The girl watched Jiwon, bewildered, as she started to walk away.

" Hey, girl! Do you know where we are?" She shouted, jumping as she pulled her jeans on. Jiwon stopped walking, sighing.

" Ssangmun-dong." She answered, shoving her hands in her pockets as she continued.

" What's your name?"

" You don't need to know." Jiwon deadpanned, ignoring the rest of the girls words as she walked further.

When Jiwon arrived at the familiar market of Ssangmun-dong, it suddenly hit her that she had nowhere to go. There was no way in hell she was going back to Deok-su.

Checking her pockets, the girl was relived to find that her phone and 100,000 won still sat tight. Jiwon walked up to a fish cake stall and bought herself a bag, the hot food warming up her hands as she strolled away.

The sky was dark, and gloomy, so it was best she found somewhere to stay for now. She had something to do first, though.

Finishing off her food, she stopped at an once cream truck and bought a bubblegum flavoured ice lolly, her brothers favourite.

The orphanage was not her favourite place. Yes, the caretaker was a nice lady who didn't discriminate against Cheol, and the care itself was fine, but she wanted him home.

So, when she arrived and saw a small plaster on the side of his face and marks all over his cheeks, she was worried.

" How did you get your face like that?" She asked, gripping his chin to check his face. He waved her off and sighed.

Jiwon sat down next to him as he watched the other kids at the home run to the ice cream truck, longing.

He wasn't jealous for long, though, as Jiwon handed him the lolly she'd bought, and he smiled slightly, unwrapping it.

It always upset Jiwon, seeing him like this. Yes, coming over to South Korea was rough for her too, but Cheol was still a kid.

" When was the last time Sae came to see you?" Jiwon fiddled with a loose thread on her jacket as she spoke. Cheol shrugged, he didn't remember.

It angered the girl to no end. Saebyeok had practically abandoned them. Yes, they needed money, and yes, it wasn't easy to get it, but it was almost like she forgot about the family with her.

Cheol relied on Jiwon and solely Jiwon, and he'd grown distant with his eldest sister. All the promises they'd made to stick together, and they just fell apart slowly but surely.

She glanced over and noticed that Cheol hadn't even touched his lolly.

" What? No ice cream for you, bud?" No reply.

" Would you please tell me how you got your face like that?" Jiwon pushed, getting nothing but the silent treatment.

She stood and straightened out her jacket before acting like she was leaving.

" If you aren't gonna talk, I guess I'll just leave." She shrugged. She'd barely taken two steps before a hand clutched hers, and she turned back.

" Wait. I don't wanna stay here." Jiwon's features softened as Cheol's face began to crease up.

" Where's mom? You said she'd come soon. You said we'd be together. That I just had to wait a month. It's been seven." Jiwon crouched in front of her brother, holding his hands in hers.

" Cheol...listen-"

" All the kids told me you lied." He cried, eyes wet.

" They said I'd never leave and that I'd get abandoned here." Jiwon sighed and pulled him into her arms, resting her chin on top of his head.

" They're the liars. Mom and dad will be here soon." Jiwon winced as she said it. She hadn't plucked up the courage to tell him that dad wasn't coming.

She pulled away and held him by the shoulders, hating his upset state.

" We'll all live under the same roof next year, okay?" She wiped under his eyes with her sleeve.

" I promise. I won't leave you." He snuggled back into her arms, and she just held him.

Later on, Jiwon stood outside a bus station as she anxiously shifted on her legs.

With one last huff, she pulled the stupid card and her phone out of her pocket and dialled the number, putting the speaker up to her ear.

" Hello, who's calling?"

The wait for the vehicle was killing her. She couldn't quite believe she was doing it. But this was for her family. She was desperate.

The familiar lights soon flashed in her face, and she stood up straight as the vehicle slowed to a stop in front of her.

The door clicked open, and she cautiously climbed in, now aware of what was about to happen.

When the gas seeped in, she let herself rest her head, falling asleep almost instantly.

This is it. Time to win.
