( season 1, episode 5 : a fair world )
The elevators silence was only filled with heaving breathes and player 214's annoying praying. Jiwon sat on the ground next to player 212, knees to her chest as she stared at her bloody hands.
" Hey, dude," Jiwon heard Jiyeong speak up from beside her, but didn't pay any mind to it, trying to control her breathing.
" Who you think you're praying to, huh? To god? You think you made it out of there because of god, don't you?" Jiwon opened her eyes to watch what was happening.
Jiyeong was now leaned over, hands resting on her knees.
" The reason you're still breathing and thanking that nice god of yours..." Jiyeong gestured to player 001, who Jiwon had forgot to check on. He seemed alright.
" ...is that old man there. And that guy over there who came up with that awesome last-minute trick." She added, gesturing to Sangwoo.
" You know if there's anybody that you should be thanking it's them, not god." The man paused, looking up at Jiyeong with a glare.
" You sad lost soul. What would you say about everybody who was nailed to the cross for our salvation today? They sacrificed themselves for us. We are here, thanks to their blood. I pray to the lord on behalf of all us sinners. I gave thanks for their sacrifice. God made a decision to help our team win. That's why we're all here." Jiyeong was about to speak up, but was cut off.
" Bullshit." Jiwon muttered, a hard gaze on the man. " You killed those guys out there." The mans eyes widened, and he began rapidly praying again.
Jiwon acted as if she had a lightbulb moment, eyes lighting up.
" Ah! If we say some prayers, do we all get to go to heaven?" Saebyeok rolled her eyes at her sisters sarcasm.
" Shit, I should really start praying then." She clasped her hands together and began mumbling incoherently.
" Shut up!" Jiwon sighed, putting her hands down and moving to look at her sister.
" Me? Or him?" Saebyeok glanced down at her, meeting her cold stare.
" Everyone." The elevator shook as it reached the bottom, cutting out some of the tension that the siblings had set in the small place.
Jiwon walked beside player 212 as they left the game area, glancing at the team who were walking towards the elevator.
The walk back to the bedroom was silent, the emptiness of the wacky staircases feeling odd.
Player 278 was giggling childishly as they entered, and his team looked gobsmacked that they'd actually made it back. Deok-su especially.
He stood up and stomped over to Jiwon, standing in front of her, trying to seem intimidating.
Jiwon only raised an eyebrow, shifting her weight onto one leg as she crossed her arms.
" Surprised, hm?" She muttered, getting right in his face. He clenched his jaw.
" I'll kill you, bitch." He seethed. Jiwon smirked.
" Not if I have anything to do with it." A voice replied from beside her, and she didn't have to look to know it was Saebyeok walking past her.
" I dare you to try." Jiwon left him with that.

" You know what? I really thought we were gonna die out there." Jiwon listened to 212's excited rambling. There wasn't much else to do.
" And then, as soon as we were all leaning back, I felt so powerful. Like 'Whoa! It works. Is this real?'" Jiwon snorted at her, and she pointed to her, grinning.
" See? She gets it! Old man, how do you know that?" The old man smiled, reminiscing.
" As a kid, I would always..." His smile fell as he was cut off, and Jiwon sighed.
" Oh, you copied that one thing. From that movie. What's it called? The guy who dodged bullets like this..." She imitated the memorable scene from the matrix, and Jiwon smiled. She remembered watching parts of it once at an old tv shop when she first arrived in the south.
" Matrix!" Ali clarified with a smile. 212 stopped and leaned towards him, a mocking smile on her face.
" Hey, when you got to Korea, all you did was watch movies?" Ali's face fell, and Jiwon huffed, sitting up straight. She wouldn't sit by and let that happen again.
" And our man..." She pointed at Sangwoo with her corn, before mocking what he said before.
" Oh my god, I can't believe how cool that was." She practically whined, trying to sound much younger than she was.
" How did you come up with that so quick?" Jiwon furrowed her brows, looking towards the woman.
" Hey, before, you were the one who said no." She recalled, cold eyes staring at the woman. She was clearly unsettled.
" Really? Is that what you heard?"
" You cried and said, " But that's the edge. There's no way I'll go." Ali mocked her, and Jiwon laughed, giving him a high five. 212 rolled her eyes.
" Hey, you. You got a visa? I bet you don't." Jiwon stood up, now incredibly annoyed.
" You're an illegal alien." She noticed Jiwon standing, and gestured to her also.
" And you! You're from the north, I can hear it in your accent. You a spy or what?" Jiwon ran a hand through her hair, the other on her hip.
" You wanna say that again and look me in the eye?" She stepped down the platforms slowly until she was stood in front of her, a hard gaze set on her. The woman laughed nervously.
" Come on, I was just joking. Lighten up." Jiwon rolled her eyes, moving away.
" You say it as if we haven't heard either of those comments before." She muttered, referring to the things said about her and Ali.
" Who's captain here?" Player 212 continued to ramble, clearly not reading the room and understanding that she needs to shut up.
" Nobody is leader here." Jiwon snapped, sick and tired of the woman. " We're all equal." 212 was now treading carefully around Jiwon.
" Ah, nice. Building an egalitarian society!" She dramatically announced, before glancing over at Deok-su and his goons.
" I gotta say this is quite a change from that huge asshole who just bosses you around and pretends he's king."
" About that grandma, why'd you get kicked out?" 212 glanced to Jiwon with a horrified look on her face.
" Grandma? Don't call me that. Han Mi-nyeo. And you?" Jiwon raised a brow.
" Your worst nightmare. Now shut up." Jiyeong snickered behind her palm.
" They only got rid of you, so they only wound up with male players. Right before the game at that." Sangwoo brought up, watching them.
" You know, it's almost like they knew the game ahead of time." Jiwon looked over, glaring into Deok-su's eyes as he made eye contact.
She couldn't wait to see him die.
