( season 1, episode 3 : the man with the umbrella )
" Bítch." Jiwon muttered as she climbed up the ladder to her bunk, frustrated.
Clearly, her sister had walked into that bathroom hoping to resolve their issues. And clearly, that's not what happened.
It only made the problem worse, and both of them were even angrier. With a huff, Jiwon reached the top of the ladder and sat on her bunk, falling asleep almost as soon as her head hit the mattress.

When Jiwon awoke the next morning, the players were sitting around with their breakfast, chatting. Frankly, the girl wasn't very hungry, but she collected her bread and milk anyways.
Player 009 sat down beside her and opened the packet, placing her milk beside her.
Unfortunately, they had no time, as the god awful classical music started to play through the speakers.
" Attention. The second game will begin shortly." The PA ladies scratchy voice spoke.
" Please follow the staffs instructions and swiftly make your way towards the game hall. I will now repeat the instructions..." Jiwon sighed, placing her breakfast down on the platform. Here we go again.
||
Jiwon kept her hands in her pockets as the players slowly walked through the ridiculous staircases, a nervous silence washing over them all.
She glanced ahead and did a double take when she saw player 218 rather close to her sister. Eyes narrowed and ears perked, she tried to listen to what they were saying.
She gave up after a few seconds, as she couldn't hear a thing.
Finally, they reached the 'game hall', and the room they entered looked like a childhood nightmare. Blue, pastel walls were decorated with drawings of clouds in a darker blue, just like a kid would draw them.
A green, yellow and red picket fence lined the entire room, and hugely oversized playground equipment was scattered around.
" Players, welcome to the second game. We will begin shortly." Jiwon looked over to see player 456 frantically glancing around the huge room, speaking to his friend, 218.
" Players, before the second game begins, choose one of the four available shapes you see on the wall. Once you've chosen your shape, please stand in front of it." Circle, triangle, star or umbrella.
Jiwon stood, contemplating, as other players rushed off to get in line. She ignored her sisters presence as she walked past her, and ultimately went with the circle.
" The time to select your shape has ended. I will now explain the rules of the next game." The doors under each shape opened, and a guard stood behind a table was all that was there.
" Players, please take one case each from the table at the front of your line. All players, please take one case each from the table at the front of your line." Jiwon sighed, shifting her weight to one side as the line quickly moved down.
Eventually, she got to the front, and took a case, walking to sit on the huge circular structure. She'd only been to playgrounds once or twice, so frankly, she had no idea what it was.
" Please take a moment to open the case and check the contents." The voice spoke as she sat down, and she took the lid off, crossing her legs.
Thinking back, she couldn't quite crack what it was.
A golden piece of candy sat in the tin, with a circle shape in the middle. A pin laid beside it. When she smelt it, it smelt like honeycomb.
" The second game is sugar honeycombs. The shape you have chosen is the shape you must remove from the honeycomb." Jiwon cursed, knowing that straight lines would have been easier.

Silence fell over the room as soon as the timer started, and it was deafening. Jiwon was just glad she hadn't picked the umbrella.
At one point, she'd looked over and noticed that player 199 had the same shape as her, so she copied his method.
The needle hung out of the side of her mouth as she broke off the edges, breathing shakily.
" Wait...one more chance!" She heard a player cry out, and her head shot up to look at the top of the slide, where player 369 sat.
A loud bang suddenly rang out, and players shrieked as the mans dead body slid down the slide. Jiwon gulped and looked away, willing herself not to get distracted.
Another woman's cries reached her ears, and suddenly multiple gunshots were going off. She then glanced over at Deok-su, and almost chuckled at his frantic state.
More and more pieces broke off of her circle, and sweat was starting to drip from her forehead.
The PA lady started to announce players that had passed, and Jiwon tried her best to ignore it.
" Player 67, pass." Jiwon looked up and watched as her sister stood in front of the guard, holding her triangle up.
They made slight eye contact as she moved away, and Jiwon quickly broke it, nervous.
Finally, she got to the last piece, and gently broke it off.
A chip appeared as she removed it. As tiny as it was, it was there, and she gulped nervously.
She moved her fingers to hold it at that point, before showing her shape to the guard, sweating.
" Player 73, pass." Jiwon let out a relieved breath, standing up and leaving the room as fast as she could.
Returning to the bedroom, Jiwon sat down on her bunk and just observed the other players, who were all much more relaxed than they had been 20 minutes ago.
She hadn't calmed down. They were in a game of death, after all.
