I walk through the crowded halls towards the cafeteria. Students bumping into each other, eager to go on their lunch breaks. Because I was late that morning I didn't have time to see everyone before class, so I was looking forward to seeing them now.

I finally make it to the cafeteria, whiteboard still in hand. I walk around for a bit, trying to look for them in the ocean of students. We didn't really have a "usual" table we always sit at, we just always chose the closest one available. That's when I spot a lime green hoodie. I look closer to see it's being worn by a very familiar tall blonde. I smile, walking towards the group.

As I take my seat I realize the new kid sitting with us. I give him a small wave, sitting across from him. "Zak, this is Bad! He's new." George explains.
"I know, we have coding together." I wrote. "Yeah, he helped me with an assignment." Bad smiles. Everyone nods along before starting up a new conversation. I was sitting beside Red on the other side of George, Clay, and Bad. Bad being right across from me.

I couldn't help but zone out, my eyes unconsciously bringing my gaze towards him. That's when I realized his wrist. He notices me staring, lifting his wrist for me to see better. "Did you meet your soulmate already?" I write. "No, I was just the lucky one." He explains. I nod in interest, feeling a bit jealous. He goes back to the conversation with everyone else. I look around, tired and just wanting to go home. That's when I spot Kate. I stiffen up, my heart beating faster then humanly possible. My breathing starts to pick up as flashbacks from the other day come rolling into my mind.

"Hey, hey" I hear Red's soothing voice. I snap out of my mini panic attack when I feel his arm wrap around me. "She doesn't deserve your acknowledgment." He whispers to me, making me smile.
"Thanks for the board btw, I love it :)" I write, tilting it towards him for so he can read it. "No problem, it's the least we can do." He says with a smile.

"Guys! We should hang out after school." Clay suggests. I shrug in response. "Sure!" Red perks up with excitement at the idea. "Alright, but where?" George asks, leaning forward on the table to be able to see Clay around Bad. "My place?" He says slowly, making it a clear question. "Ok, I'm in." Red informs us. "Sure" I write on my board. We all agree to meet up at Clays after school.

"What about you, Bad?" He asks looking to his right to face him. "Oh, uh- sure!" He accepts the invite with a smile, making me smile as well. Damn, why is his smile so contagious.

I place a firm knock on the door, Clay opening it seconds later. "Hey man!" He greets me. I give him a smile in response as I follow him to the living room. Clays parents are almost never home. They have their own successful business, so they are always very busy. Clay doesn't really seem to mind though.

"Zak!" Red exclaims excitedly, motioning me to sit beside him on the couch. I walk over with a big smile on my face, whiteboard still in hand. I haven't let it out of my sight all day. We all talked for awhile. Well, everyone except for me. We all decided to play some games, more specifically Minecraft.

"What!" George shrieks. "How are you so fucking good!" Red exclaims in rage. We thought it would be fun for all three of us to go up against Clay, knowing we would win. Or so we thought. How was he so good when he literally never plays. "I'm just better." Clay shrugs with a sly smile spread across his face.

That's when the door bell rings, we all look over towards the door as Clay gets up to answer it. Seconds later he walks in with Bad trailing behind him. We make eye contact right away, like he was looking for me. I flash him a quick smile before looking back towards the TV. He takes a seat on the couch behind Me and Red who were sitting on the floor in front of the big flat screen TV.

"Whatcha guys doing?" I hear Bad ask from behind me. "Clays trying to beat the game while we hunt him down." Red explains, not taking his gaze off of the TV. "Sounds fun!" Bad exclaims, I could hear the smile in his voice.

My character stops as I turn around in my seat on the ground. Bad looks down at me as I hand him the controller. "Oh no, it's ok." He insists. I shake my head 'no', placing it in his lap as I take the seat beside him on the couch. "You can take a turn" I write, turning it around for him to read. "Thanks, Zak." He thanks me with a smile. I smile back, trying to ignore the weird warm, fuzzy feeling that was occurring in my stomach when he smiled. It felt like a million butterflies were all trapped inside of me, but they were having a fire, or on fire.

Instead of turning back towards the TV my gaze unconsciously stays on him. I tuck my legs up to my chest, resting my head towards my left to still face him, setting my board down beside me on my right. "Guys! Help! Help! Ah!" He screams, but that doesn't faze me. It doesn't make me jump. I'm guessing he was getting chased by Clay, I couldn't see though because I didn't even bother looking away from him towards the TV.

"Come here Bad!" Clay yells before it went silent for a few seconds.
"Aw- muffin." He sighs, leaning back into the couch. I'm guessing he died. Seconds later he looks towards me, noticing I was staring. His face immediately turns a bright red, quickly looking away without a word. I really wish I could just talk to him, not having to write down everything. I want to get to know the tall brunette.

The drive home was nice. It's the most peaceful I've felt in the last couple of days. It was a clear night, all stars being visible. I kept the radio on a low-ish volume, wanting to keep the atmosphere calming. It was only a five minute drive, but it was so peaceful and calm it felt like ten.

I make it home, parking in the driveway. It was pretty late, being almost midnight. I slowly open the door, not wanting to make to much noise. Right when I enter the house I hear my mom yell for me. "Zak! Come here!" I get a bit worried, running into the living room.

I look over to see her sitting on the couch with a big textbook on her lap. "Come, sit." She orders with an excited smile. "I found one of my old ASL textbooks from when I had to take the corse!" She explains. That's right, she works with disabled and deaf kids so she had to take a bunch for corses for ASL, medical care, all that kind of stuff.

I nod slightly, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. "You can learn! I know it, so you can actually talk in some way!" She explains. It takes me a second to take it all in, realizing what she had just said. A huge smile spread across my face as I realized. I can talk again! It definitely wouldn't be the same, but at least I don't have to write everything down.

I stand up, jumping up and down in excitement. She joins me, equally as excited. We spent an hour going through the basics, the alphabet, greetings, responses, stuff like that. She let me take it to study. I stayed up all night looking through the entire book over and over again to memorize it. I was beyond excited, words couldn't even explain.
