"Wow, Annie, your singing's great!"

You lift your head faintly as Calvin's bright voice clears the haze from your mind. Maybe it was the natural flow of the song, but in some way, you'd found yourself closing your eyes and quietly spacing off into your own world, vocals from both Hex and Annie slowly lulling you into a state of serenity.

You could swear on your life that you'd almost fallen asleep at some point-- not because the singing battle was boring, or anything like that! Just because you felt so immersed and comforted by the music.

The fact that you haven't slept in around 2 days is... also probably a factor.

Despite how generally odd these past few weeks have been, with meeting new people and all, they also seem to have provided a certain joy to your life that you hadn't had before. It's not like Calvin was boring at all, but the new things brought to you by new friends, new experiences... well, it's something to think about, you suppose.

"Heh, thanks!" Annie replies to Calvin, rubbing the back of her head almost bashfully. "I don't usually sing with other people, at least besides Garcy, sometimes..."

"Really?" Hex inquires in his cheerful, chirpy robotic voice. "Your vocals were really polished for someone without much experience!"

Annie's grin widens and she rubs her arm.

"Aw, I'm not that good... "

"I beg to differ," you chip in, leaning your elbow on your knee as you gently begin to bounce your leg, adjusting your seat on the grass. "Your voice fits the vibe of the song you chose really well. What's the song called, by the way?"

"It's called 'Good Enough'," Annie says, gesturing emptily in the air with her microphone. "I wrote it when I was working out some feelings of mine. Turns out, emotions can help you create some neat songs!"

You blink.

"...You wrote that song?" you drone, incredulous. Annie looks at you with a confused look painted on her face.

"Yeah?"

You sit still on the spiky grass, the wind blowing bits of loose dirt from the ground behind you. Hex watches you and Annie with perplexed eyes. Calvin, standing to the left of Hex but closer to you, echoes the action.

Annie visibly jolts in surprise when you flop onto your back, letting out a deep, exhausted groan. Calvin only blinks at the action, seemingly familiar with it.

"(Y/N)?" Hex is the first to speak, leaning over your form, concerned. "Are you okay?"

"I can't believe I'm surrounded by so many talented people," you mope, rubbing your eyes, "While I'm a nobody who works at a convenience store."

"There there," Calvin says half-mockingly, walking towards you, "I'm a nobody-convenience-store-worker too."

"Lies," you mumble as Calvin sits beside you on the grass. He either doesn't hear your remark or actively chooses to ignore it.

"Besides," your friend continues determinedly, "You're not talentless. I mean, you've managed to cover all of my missed shifts without missing a beat! Is that something a good-for-nothing person would do? Cover all long shifts for their friend's sake?"

"Not sure if running on ten cans of energy drinks is a talent, or particularly remarkable..." you murmur.

"Isn't that unhealthy?" Hex inquires, seemingly genuinely concerned.

"Yeah," you sigh, "I think I might pass out in an hour, actually."

"Oh, yikes." Calvin purses his lips and grabs your arm, hoisting you up letting you lean on him for support. He shoots a sheepish look at Anne and Hex, both of whom have worried expressions on their faces. "Thank you both for letting us listen to you sing! It was really fun! But, ahem, I'm gonna get (Y/N) home before they faint."
