LUNCH WENT A LOT BETTER THAN ESZTER ANTICIPATED. She didn't know why she was so worried; Wanda and Vision were, surprisingly, well-behaved and didn't try to embarrass her. Again.
"Thank you for lunch, Wanda, and thank you, Vision, for accepting me as well."
Such a kiss ass.
"It's our pleasure," Vision finally eased up the protective-dad mode and relaxed. He got up and started collecting the dishes. "Again, I apologize for my rude introduction."
"It's all right. This was my first time being invited somewhere, and it was nice," Wesley smiled gratefully. I can help clean up."
"Nonsense! You two enjoy yourselves. We'll clean up here. You guys go hang out in the backyard, maybe fix my garden while you're at it."
"Not happening," Eszter clicked her tongue on the roof of her mouth. She gets up and tugs Wesley toward the kitchen. "But I don't mind escaping the mess. See ya!"
Wanda laughs at Eszter's comment, clearly amused by her sister's obvious distaste for cleaning up after cooking. But she doesn't mind; she loves seeing Eszter be a kid for once. If Wanda has to do the dishes just so Eszter can pretend to be a kid again, she will do whatever she has to.
"I like them," Wesley picked a spot on the grass and lay down, sighing in content and a full belly. "They're pretty cool people."
Eszter couldn't stop the snort escaping her. Well, what he said isn't exactly wrong; Wanda is awesome at everything. She did all she could to help raise Eszter, and she's always been chill about everything. But still, sometimes siblings have their little moments where something is annoying.
"I guess," the witch says, sitting beside Wesley on the grass.
"Say, is she like you?" Wesley wonders, rolling on his side with his hand holding his head up.
Now that he mentioned it, Eszter didn't know the answer to that question. Could it be possible that Wanda might be a witch like her? Well, obviously. But what would that make Pietro? He wasn't a witch or sorcerer--he had speed.
"Honestly, I don't know," Eszter frowned in thought. "We have the same powers, so does that make her a witch, too?"
"Probably, but the real question is: is she anything like you?"
That's a question Eszter wants to know. For Wanda's sake, Eszter hopes her sister doesn't have to experience the new world she's forced into. If anything, Eszter would rather Wanda be like any other boring witch and not the weight of a legacy on her shoulders. Not when she's becoming a mother.
"What about you and your mom?" Eszter started picking at the grass as the curiosity of Wesley and Agnes lingered in her mind. "You both know magic. Does that mean she taught you everything you know?"
Wesley immediately grew rigid at the mere mention of Agnes, but Eszter didn't notice. He stared at the sky like he was finding the right words that wouldn't change Eszter's mindset about Agnes.
"Uh, yeah. She raised me in this lifestyle. Everything I know is because of her."
"Agnes offered to show some spells," Eszter figured, mentioning it. They lived together after all.
Wesley knit his brows together, suddenly feeling strange at the thought. "She did?"
"Yeah. I figured I might as well get the extra help if I want to learn as much as I can."
"That . . . that makes sense, I guess," but secretly, Wesley was having an internal battle with the idea. He knew what he was supposed to do, but to have Agnes tag along, Wesley didn't feel right about it. "She can be--"
