There he was. In a hospital's bed, sleeping. His leg was pulled up by some stand, so it wouldn't move at all. Thomas was right beside him, his hands shaking. He couldn't think about anything else, but his new found lover, who was laying there.
"It hurts so bad, Tommy," Newt cried.
He let some tears fall down, his leg was nothing but three broken pieces. He was thankful that there wasn't any blood, since he couldn't see the red liquid, it disgusted him. Thomas was holding one of Newt's hands, trying to comfort him.
They were in the ambulance, nurses around Newt and his leg. He couldn't feel much, but would he try to move any muscle, it hurt bad, really bad. Thomas felt like crying when Newt leaned his head on his shoulder, eyes almost closing.
"Sir, we should give him a sleeping pill, he would wake up every now and then.... It looks like we're gonna have to operate him," the nurse said.
"W-what? Why? Is any-"
"His leg is snapped into three.... Looks like a hard fall," she replied calmly.
When Thomas reached out for Newt's hand on the bed, he noticed him stir a little. His eyes were squinting and trying to open. Thomas sat up more properly, placing his hands on Newt's cold one, squeezing it.
"Newt," he whispered.
Newt's eyes opened finally. Thomas sighed in relief and rubbed the blonde's hand, showing him that he was there. He frowned when he noticed how panicked Newt was. He breathed heavily, trying to move, trying to reach for his own leg.
"Newt, you're in the hospital," Thomas said.
He stood up and took both of Newt's hands, placing them either side the blonde's shoulders. Newt looked him in the eyes. The brunet had worry in his eyes while the blonde was just scared. He was scared that Thomas would just leave him there, but he didn't.
"Tommy," he croaked out.
"Yes, Newt.... I'm here," Thomas whispered back.
He leaned down to Newt, kissing his head lightly. He let go of the blonde's hands, knowing he was calm now. The brunet poured him a glass of water from the nightstand. He had already drank a whole bottle, while waiting for Newt to wake up.
He placed the glass onto Newt's lips and made sure he drank some of the water. When the blonde drank the whole water in the glass, Thomas gave him a proud look before going over to the door. He made sure Newt stayed calm before opening the door, looking out for a nurse.
For his luck, a nurse was right across the hall, so he called for her, saying Newt was awake. The nurse got over to the brunet before going in. Newt looked at her, then back to his lover.
"Hey, you remember anything?" she asked, going over to him.
Newt shook his head. He didn't remember anything, but the pain he was in when they got into the ambulance. He could only remember Thomas' sweet words and his calming presence.
