Acacia's POV
All the preparations were done, and we were ready for whatever the Dragon Hunters had in store for us tonight.
We were taking 4 extra dragons, one a Sand Wraith named Brink, another a Triple Stryke by the name of Treble, and lastly two Changewings who went by Shade and Flair.
Soon the rest of us were dressed in our uniforms, the cloaks flowing long behind us. The designs on our hoods were chosen by each of us and our dragons, and they all had special meaning. My hood had runes painted on the top, the same color as Azure's scales.
Once everything was settled, we traveled out into the night.
Flying in tight formation, we reached the Hunter's island before the moon reached its peak. Torches lit the darkness, highlighting the thousands of Dragon Hunters that were waiting for an attack. Waiting for us.
We silently spread out to surround the base, staying in the shadows. Everyone knew the plan. There was no communication needed.
Rowan and Shadow were supposed to make the first strike, starting the attack with a well planned shot at the biggest tent and insuring turmoil.
They never got the chance.
A familiar black shape swept in.
The Night Fury was flying so close to the water the tips of his wings sent spray into the the sky. The figure on his back was bent low. The pair clearly wanted this win.
The rest of the Dragon Riders flew behind them. A Deadly Nadder, a Monstrous Nightmare, a Gronckle, a Razorwhip, and the Zippleback that I was pretty sure collapsed the mountain on Azure and me.
The Night Fury took the first shot, stealing Rowan's favorite part of every raid. Stealing all the glory. Again.
Hunters started yelling, aiming their huge crossbows at Hiccup and his dragon.
I cursed under my breath. "Come on!" I said out loud to my friends, "we can still finish this!"
Rowan grumbled something to Shadow, and the troublemakers dipped, flying low. Shadow pulled up just as they were about to hit one of the Hunter's main walls. Flying at a straight vertical angle, none of the Dragon Hunters saw the Night Light coming.
Vera and Arne started left, taking out catapults with bright blue plasma blasts and magnesium fire. Kara and Ama flew over the center of the base, their dragons blowing flames across the pillars and ramparts.
The chaos had started. With our dragons and the pesky, albeit powerful, Dragon Riders, the Hunters didn't stand a chance.
Satisfied with our progress, I went to face my most pressing problem. Hiccup.
"Azure, get me close," I pointed at the Night Fury, who was soaring over the base, dodging arrows and ballistae.
"Acacia!" My goody two-shoes of a dragon gasped. "Are you crazy? You can't!"
"This may be my only chance," I muttered. I pulled myself up on the saddle. Carefully, I brought my knees up. Once I was standing, Azure couldn't stop me. Not without risking my getting hurt, which would entirely defeat the point of her stopping me.
But before I could stand all the way up on the saddle, an arrow whizzed past my face. I yelped in surprise, practically falling from my precarious position. I whirled around, trying to find the shooter.
