Fate is a funny thing.

And some people think they can cheat it.

Take Neal for example.

Baelfire.

In the enchanted forest, he thought he could cheat death.

He thought he could bring his father back to life.

And he did.

But with a great cost.

His own life in exchange for his father's.

But Rumplestiltskin was not about to let his son die.

Instead, the two shared one body.

And the witch captured them both.

Neal took over the body and managed to escape.

He wanted to find Emma.

Out in the woods, he found the blonde.

But found his demise as well.

Neal was dead, but now the heroes know who to blame.

The funeral comes soon after.

Poor Henry doesn't have a clue what's going on. He doesn't mourn, for he doesn't remember who Neal was.

Scarlett stares down at the casket. She wants to cry, but no tears fall. She mourns the loss of her brother, but has no tears to cry.

Emma is comforted by her son. She wipes her tears away as the coffin is lowered into the ground.

Everyone grabs a handful of dirt to place over the casket, and Emma is the last to go.

Today is a sad day in Storybrooke.

They lost one of their own.

They lost a friend.

And Henry lost his father.

But now, they know.

They know who did this.

They know who cursed them.

They know who to blame for Neal's death.

A witch with the name of Zelena.
