Chapter 1

Setting the phone down, I tried not to let Jimin's words get to me. I tried not to think about the fact that he was there. Him. Kim Seokjin, better known as Jin. My best friend and the man I had been in love with for the last five years. We had hit it off the moment we met. It was our first day at culinary school and we had been paired together for a project. We had laughed the entire time, getting to know each other and by the time the class was over, I was in love. Head over heels in love with him.

Jin was funny, smart and so undeniably handsome. We had a lot in common, more so than I had with anyone else. So what was the problem? He already had a girlfriend. Her name was Sienna and she was stunning. And I mean stunning. She had the prettiest face I had ever seen on a person and thick gorgeous hair that looked like it came from a shampoo commercial. Around Seokjin, she had this sweet persona, but the instant he was gone, she had made it perfectly clear that she didn't like me, that I was not welcome around her boyfriend. I tried to ignore it, but I slowly tried to pull myself away from Jin, knowing I would get my heart broke in the end anyways.

Within six months they had broken up and the friendship between Jin and I became stronger than ever. One part of me kept trying to convince the other part of me to confess, but I didn't want to take the chance of him rejecting me, of him telling me no and potentially ruining our friendship. It wasn't worth it to me. However, the longer we were friends, the more girls I saw him date, the worse I began to feel. Jimin had tried to convince me to confess, but I couldn't do it. So now what was I doing? Sitting at home, alone, while Jimin updated me on the whereabouts of one Kim Seokjin and his latest flavor of the month. My phone dinged again and I looked down to see yet another text from Jimin. I didn't realize so much time had gone by while I was lost in thought.
