Chapter 11

Monday

English is up first. I just hope that stupid pervert isn't there again. I walk in with Oscar and we sit down in our seats. A skinny women walks in. " Alright student's let's hope im your final English teacher for the year," she says

I raise my hand. " Umm yes, Sordo?" She says looking at the paper to find my name

" What happened to our other teacher?"

" Well I can't let out that information but if I could I would say he was arrested for sexual assault," She says smiling and taking attendance

I whisper to Vix " Not surprised there,"

" yeah I mean wasn't he hitting on Oscar the other day?" She says

" Yeah I asked him about it and he completely denied it," I respond

" What a douche bag!" She whispers loudly 

" I know right," I say

We stop talking and look up at the board. " Alright class were going to be working on fine tuning our reading comprehension," The teacher says

I've already zoned out. The rest of the day is basically a blur. Even lunch I zone out. At basketball practice is when I really am in the zone. We are conditioning today. I hate conditioning. We start practice with killers and jump starts. We then went on to concrete mixers. My legs are dying at our half point break. Oscar comes and gives me a massage during our 10 minute break. " Are you dating?" One of my teammates ask as Oscar rubs my shoulders down. 

" Yeah, why?" I ask

" Nothing just wondering, I think you guys look good together!" He says

" Thank you!" I say and take a long drink of my water

The next half we scrimmage to determine what position coach wants us in. I end up playing against Jace and two other boys. I've got Matt and another kid on my team. Jace starts with the ball. He dribbles up the court up to Matt who's guarding him. I cover the taller kid on Jace's team. He passes to his teammate i'm covering in. It's a bounce pass. I run ahead and steal it. I run down into the paint and make a layup. I then run back to the other side ready to guard again. My kid takes up the ball. He tries to pass to Jace but I stand in the way. He ends up stopping with the ball. Now he's stuck. I get close and cover him. He holds the ball behind his neck. Bad choice. Matt comes up behind him and pulls it out from his hands. He falls and hits the ground. Jace ends up running after Matt and gets him cornered in the court. I run through the paint. " Matt right here!" I yell

He sees me and throws the ball above Jace's head to me. I turn and shoot. The ball rolls around the rim. It slows down and falls into the basket. " Yeah!" I yell

The game is so one sided we might as well have been playing ghosts. Matt and I are unstoppable together. The game finally ended and the score is 30-5. We won! 

" Alright boy's that's the end of practice we'll continue this tomorrow, rest up!" He yells 

I sit down on the bench next to Matt and take my shoes off. My coach comes up to Matt and I. 

" Can I talk to you boys?" He asks

" sure," We say in unison 

We walk over away from the rest of the boys. " You kids are varsity material, how would you like to move up?"

" Well can we take a day to think about it?"

" Sure get back to me by the end of the week, ok," He says as we walk away

" Hey should we join the varsity team?" I ask Matt

" I mean I think I am, but what about Jace?" he says

" Well we can talk to him about it," I say

We grab our stuff and make our way to the locker room. " Umm excuse me, Sordo?"

I hear. I turn around. It's a girl. I think she's in my geography class. 

" Umm, yeah that's me," I say 

" I'm Penny, can I um, talk to you?" She asks quietly

" Yeah sure," I say

" Hey Sordo you coming?" Matt asks from the doorway

" Yeah i'll be there in a few minutes Matt," I say

" Ok?" He responds questioningly and walks in the locker room. 

" So what do you need?" I say looking at her

" Umm Sordo I really like you and I was wondering if you like me to?"

She says really fast.

" Excuse me?" I say confused

Oh no. How am I supposed to go about this. Do I just flat out tell her. I guess.

" Umm Penny, I'm really flattered by your feelings but how do I say this, I'm in a relationship,"

I say

She looks shattered. I then feel someone hug me from behind. " Hey babe whatcha doin? I wanna go home," he whines

What horrible timing Oscar. " O-oh well that's okay, I guess I'll see you around," She sobs as she runs away

" Who was that?" Oscar asks

" A girl who had feelings for me,"

" Holy crap really!"

" Yeah,"

" Well that must have been awkward, but hurry up and change so we can go!" He says pushing me into the locker room. I walk over to my locker and change back into my clothes and grab my backpack. I walk out and grab Oscar's hand. We walk outside and hop into my car and drive home. I hope that no more girls confess their love for me, it's really awkward.

" Sordo your not gonna like that girl over me, right?" Oscar asks

" Oscar, I'm think I'm gay, remember?"

" Oh right,"

" Let's just go home and play some board games,"  I say

" Can we play Monopoly?"

" Sure but I call the race car!"

" No fair,"

" All's fair in life and Monopoly,"
