Chapter 20 - ❤️

Walking into the principals' office, my eyes immediately look around for my son. They land on him sitting in a chair in the far corner with his head down. However, even with his head down, I could still see some bruising beginning to form on his face and his bottom lip swollen and bleeding.

The anger in me at the sight of his injured state is almost too much for me to control. Somebody better give me a fucking explanation for this and fast or they'll wish they were dead when I'm done with them.

"Mr. Knight, thank you for coming." Principal Zuniga stands up and offers his hand for a handshake.

I glance down at it and ignore his hand as I look back at Dante to say, "Wait outside."

He nods his head once and closes the door, separating him and everything else from everyone in this room. I notice another man sitting in a chair. His back is tensed and he stands up, slowly turning around to face me.

That's when I realized that it was the chief of police. He nervously looks at me and clears his throat, "Mr. Knight, I'm shocked to see you here."

"Clearly." I respond before looking between the two men and down at the boys. "Does somebody want to tell me why the fuck my son has injuries on his face?"

Principal Zuniga visibly tenses and his smile freezes on his face as he says, "Well, it seems that Lorenzo and Josiah had a little misunderstanding with each other."

"A misunderstanding?" I question, my tone holding no emotion when I look over at Lorenzo. "My son has a busted lip and a bruised-up face. I better get a damn good explanation from you unless you want this school shut down along with losing your will to speak."

Fear washes over his face and he throws a glance at the Police Chief, Henry Campbell, probably hoping to gain some help from him seeing as he's the chief of police. The thing is, Henry may have power over his officers and the citizens but I have power over him which automatically makes them all under my control.

I could make this principal disappear as if he never existed which I will if I don't start getting answers for my sons' current condition. With Henry sitting in silence, Principal Zuniga looks back at me and clears his throat before explaining what happened, "After speaking to both boys, they had two different explanations on what happened."

He goes quiet after he finishes talking and I'm quickly starting to get impatient, "Well don't just sit there looking stupid. Talk."

"O-of course." The principal nods his head and places his hands stiffly on his lap. "Josiah told me that he was playing with his friends when Lorenzo approached him and started arguing with him for no reason. Meanwhile, Lorenzo told me that Josiah approached him and snatched his necklace from his neck before he threw it somewhere in the grass. That's when Lorenzo got angry and attacked Josiah."

I look over at Lorenzo and see that he's indeed not wearing his necklace. My gaze shifts over to this Josiah boy when he suddenly shouts, "No, that's not true! I was just minding my own business! He threw his own necklace and blamed it on me because he wants me to get in trouble!"

Bullshit.

Lorenzo would never throw that necklace just to get some unimportant child in trouble. It means too much to him. I hadn't seen him remove it from his neck ever since I gave it to him. Only occasionally when he's going to bed but even then, most of the time, he leaves it on.
