I smiled politely as I waited at the Casita door.

"Mariposa?" Mrs Guzmán smiled. "What a wonderful surprise."

I kissed her cheeks with a smile. "I wouldn't miss seeing my niece's engagement. Maya says they're both very excited," I lied. Maya had told me earlier that Isabella was less than thrilled about her engagement.

"Oh," she smiled. "My Mariano is very excited."

"Come in please," Alma said with a smile.

Dolores and Maya were inside waiting to escort the Guzmáns to the kitchen.

Alma and I followed slower. "I see my grandchildren are here. Does that mean you've forgiven me?"

I didn't break my smile as we walked toward the kitchen. "You haven't apologized so no. I have not. I'm here because I heard your having trouble with the magic and while we may despise each other, I will always be there for my family."

Alma gave a small "hmupt" before calling up the stairs. "Time to eat!" She looked me over quickly. "You have two right feet."

"I always get off on the right foot," I joked. The same joke Rosa had given when she noticed the boys had given me a right foot. "That may be of help to you tonight."

"The Guzmáns and the Madrigals together will be so good for the encanto," Alma smiled from her seat beside me.

"Yes," Mrs. Guzmán smiled, "then, let's hope tonight is not a horrible disaster."

The two old women laughed. "To a perfect night!" Alma raised a glass. "Salud!"

"Salud!" we all called back.

"Having you join our family will be just wonderful," I smiled.

Mariano passed the bowl to Mirabel. "Avocado?"

Mirabel moved it out of her face quickly.

"I've seen much of your work, Mariposa," Mrs. Guzmán said. "Your wedding clothes for the Madrigals were beautiful. And the little suit for Antonio's gift ceremony? It was absolutely lovely!"

I smiled. "It is always a pleasure to create a new white suit or dress for the little ones."

Alma cleared her throat. "Mirabel." The youngest girl looked up table. "The cream, please?"

She leaned to her father. "Pá, the cream?"

Agustín chuckled nervously as he passed it down the table.

I looked up as a cloud slowly filled the room.

"Pepa," Alma said, "the cloud."

Pepa rubbed her hands along her braid. "Clear skies, clear skies, clear skies." She leaned to Julieta.

Julieta leaned to me. "Mirabel was in Bruno's vision."

I looked at my sister in law with a still composed face and gave a smile. "Okay."

"Mirabel?" Mariano asked. Mirabel jumped, hitting her head on the bottom of the table. "Everything okay?"

Agustín chuckled. "Everything is great. She's just excited."

"For you to propose. Which, uh, you should do!" Mirabel said. "As fast as you can."

"Uh," Mariano started, "I was actually gonna-"

"You were actually gonna. Great!" Mirabel turned Isabella's chair.

Mrs. Guzmán hesitated for a second. "Well, since everyone here has a talent, my Mariano wanted to begin with a song!" She smiled. "Luisa, could you bring over the piano?"
