Rosa opened the front door to a thundering Pepa. Luckily, she wasn't raining as she came into my house.

"Please, Mariposa," Pepa pleaded, "as my seamstress and future sister in law, please tell me some good news."

I set down my needle from finishing her veil. "What do you need to hear?"

"My cake is running late, I have no flowers, Mami keeps telling me not to rain or it'll be muddy and-"

"Your dress is ready for the final fitting," I interupted her, writing a quick to do list on a pad for Rosa. Of course it was Alma putting so much extra pressure on Pepa today. The Madrigals could be nothing less than perfect. "But you have to try not to rain on it until I'm done." I passed the pad to Rosa. "This material is very difficult to work with when wet. Once I've finished sewing, you can rain on the dress all you need."

My little sister gave me a nod and ran out of the house.

"Happy thoughts, happy thoughts," Pepa muttered as I prepared her dress. She sighed as the clouds began to dissipate around her. "Okay."

She stepped into the dress and I worked as fast as I could to fit her dress properly. I put her veil carefully in her hair. I tilted my wall mirror to her and smiled. "You look absolutely beautiful, Pepa."

When Pepa saw herself in the completed dress and veil, she was rainbows and sunshine. "Oh, Mariposa, it's beautiful!"

"I'm glad," I smiled. "Now no more clouds. Rosa will take care of the cake and flowers for you and Julieta will be by to do your makeup soon. Just stay calm. Everything will be perfect. "

"Right," Pepa said, "perfect..."

Pepa, Julieta, and I arrived at the Casita for the wedding and Rosa was quick to find us.

"Here are your flowers, Pepa," Rosa smiled, passing her a boquet of fresh picked yellow flowers. "And your cake is ready and as lovely as you are. Everything is ready for you."

Bruno joined us too and kissed my cheek. He gave his sister a nervous smile in an attempt to be comforting. "It looks like rain," he said in a happy voice.

Pepa's face suddenly cracked and her clouds grew an ominous black.

"Oh no..." I muttered.

~~~
"I'm sorry," Bruno said as he paced the living room of Casita, both of us soaked to the bone. "I was just t-trying to be helpful," he said, rubbing his hands. "R-Rain on your w-wedding day is a good sign. It's the universe w-wishing you prosperity..."
"You didn't mean it, Bruno," I consoled him. "Once Pepa calms down, apologize to her. I'm sure she'll forgive you."
Bruno began shaking his head and suddenly stopped moving completely. His eyes were glowing green as he stared at the floor. It stopped as suddenly as it started and he began muttering as he paced again.
"How often does that happen, Bruno?" I asked, worried.
"T-too often," he stuttered out. "I feel like I'm loosing c-control of my life, Mariposa."
I grabbed his hand and he looked at me, the dark marks under his eyes seeming worse than they had that morning. "Sit down," I said softly.
Bruno sat beside me on the couch, still wringing his hands. "I just get s-so tired of knowing sometimes." Bruno put his head in my lap and smiled up at me. "I love you."
I chuckled at how quickly just laying in my lap had begun to soothe his nerves. "I love you too."
